not to be a dick, but can you read? Buc is saying Katrina and the move was the cause of him not being a 5 star.

I believe coaches get the kids a little more exposure and coaches at colleges scour La more as well,
huh? South Ga might get less exposure, but that doesn't apply to the metro ATL kids. They get plenty

agreed, but it was because of his height and injury, not because of exposure. He's the best of the 4 backs y'all got in the 2013 class, imo. Maybe not vastly underrated, but underrated

Lassiter and Walton get tons of scouting and exposure

Very true
If he was underrated, what was Peyton Barber?
They played in the same division and had 6 common opponents, including each other, out of a 10 game schedule, so only 3 uncommon opponents.
Their rushing #'s from last year.
Barber - 225 Att for 1713 yds and 22 TD 7.61 YPC
Jones - 268 Att for 1682 yds and 16 TD 6.27 YPC
I'm not trying to make an argument that Barber is better, but if Jones was vastly underrated, what does that make Barber? I know Barber missed either most or all of his jr year due to an injury, which hurt him in the rankings, and I'm not sure if Jones was hurt his Sr year, but the #'s speak for themselves with that many common opponents, imo.

What were their own teams records? How many points did each team score? Makes a difference. Tyren might have been behind a shitty line compared to Barber.
Also type of offense. If you are a heavy run team, teams stack the box.

can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. FTR, that's what I was saying

Jesus man come on not saying it had anything to do with it
I meant that if you are a dominant RB in La (see LF) that you get more exposure for whatever reason...has NOTHING to do with Katrina

I meant there are a lot more great RBs and a lot more talent in Ga
Sorry if I was unclear

Both teams ended up 7-4(with a first round playoff loss). You also got the QB that Jones played with, in Parker McLeod, so obviously he had something going for him there. I don't know about Milton's QB.
Again, I'm not trying to say that Barber is better or anything, but I thought it was interesting that Barber was ranked like #45 or something in the state, while Jones was top 10 and Barber had better #'s against essentially the same competition in the same division.

It's like you said in the first post, it's probably got more to do with Barber not playing his junior year.

TJ was out for a couple games as well I believe

Which is pretty flawed reasoning to have him ranked the #41(composite) player in the state when he had better #'s than the #6 player in the state their senior year. But it is what it is. We'll see how they turn out over the next few years.

To the point of the OP, the rumor is about DE Naim Mustaffa leaving Oklahoma St. He was a UGA commit at one point, but decommitted when it became clear he couldn't EE at UGA. He could at Ok St. It was a weird situation in Dec/Jan and apparently still is.

I thought it was clear that he would have been showcased more, at an earlier age, had he stayed in New Orleans.

When I saw Tyren play last year, most of the time the defense was in the backfield before he could touch the ball.

I believe Walton had 4 sophomores starting on the Oline but I could be mistaken.

Didn't three of Barbers Olinemen sign with a D1 school this year? That may be why he wasn't as highly ranked.
Also, I'm pissed that he signed with y'all over us, I think he's going to be a damn good back whether he was running behind a D1 oline in high school or not.

I don't want it to break down into a pity party, but McLeod was out with a broken/sprained/booted ankle around the same time Tyren was injured.
His QB was a career backup for 5 games, Price Wilson. Wilson got sacked 15 times in those games, 11 more times than McLeod in the same amount of starts.
Both McLeod and Wilson have proven they show up better in camps than in games. McLeod got a offer in a camp competition with Bama, and Wilson got some attention from the ATL Elite 11 regional and received an offer from LaTech.
