Crime statistics that get flaunted around about cities being "safer" are incredibly skewed. Just stay out of the shitty parts of the city and you are fine. This is coming from someone that has at one point lived in Memphis, Los Angeles, Birmingham, Atlanta, and DC. Lexington is probably "safer" overall, but that's due to the dangerous parts of the city being less dangerous than Bham.

That's just one of many reasons Lexington is better. That was just an easy example. Bham's dysfunctional, debt ridden city government can be #2. The list is pretty substantial. Point being, Birmingham should really never be argued against 99% of cities.

I'd be willing to bet you were either born there, or live nearby now.

People are products of their environment and usually like and defend what they know.

I was born nowhere near Birmingham, but I like parts of Birmingham. Of course, I haven't been there in years, so it may have changed. But Mountain Brook, portions of Hoover, and some suburb I can't recall that had an awesome grocery store/deli all had nice areas. But, then, so does Atlanta (trash-hole of a city in most areas.)

Nashville beats them both by a country mile, of course.

I know this is from a Kentucky website and it's a Kentucky commit speaking, but it makes it seem that Kentucky is in fact a major player in this and could have an upper hand over Bama currently.

quote:

As you know, Matt Elam’s also playing in that game, and I’m still trying to work it out so I can room with him. I called the people in charge of the game about it and they said they’d get back to me, so don’t worry, BBN, I’m on the case! I’m still not wavering at all in my prediction even though I see a lot of people getting nervous. Matt’s 247 Crystal Ball is up to 60% Alabama the last time I checked, but I think back to when I announced, and my Crystal Ball was 81% South Carolina, so those are just guesses. I’m staying strong with my feeling that he’s coming to UK. Like I said in my last diary, he’s definitely living the recruiting thing up and likes being in the spotlight, which is awesome, because he’s not going to have a bigger stage than the one at the game on January 4th. If he chooses Kentucky, it will be huge with all those viewers watching. I think I heard that there were over 2 million people watching it last year, so if had the UK, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State hats on the table and chose UK, that’d be a sign to every recruit and fan that we’re not playing around anymore. They’ve gotta start taking UK football seriously. We’ve already done that with the class we have now, but it would be an even bigger step if he committed.

It'd be a major coup for UK. The guy doing the talking there, though, doesn't inspire much confidence -- he definitely comes across as a sunshine-pumper. Word to the wise...until you start winning, nobody's "gotta start taking UK football seriously."

Such a woman's thread title. Can we at least get a pic of the two walking through a Kentucky meadow holding hands.

I wasn't hating. There was an argument earlier in this thread between many people. I've never been to the 'Ham.

Lexington has talent out the arse, but no one gives it credit. Lexington ain't the hollers of eastern KY. The gene pool is totally different.

"I Dont Care Who Commits To Where, I Love Competition. Its Just Going To Make Me A Better Player !!"

This was following constant tweets from people about Josh Frazier and the 3 DT's we have committed.

WRITING ON THE WALL. RTR!

So three players commit to Bama, Elam tweets that he doesn't care and Bammers think that means he's all Bama?

Strong logic.
