I would advise my kid to go elsewhere. If he can sign with AU, UGA or Miami then it's a no-brainer. Basically sitting out a year with no gaurentee that you will be in the plans for the next class full of 5* is too risky. You already know that you weren't in the plans for this class. I would have to think once the emotions wear off he will consider his options.

So, did Devonta do a greyshirt too? Or was he the one who forced Parks into a greyshirt? Smith is listed as a hard commit in 247 and not a signee which is why I'm asking.

This kid is a total idiot if he accepts a greyshirt at bama. He is also dumb for waiting until the last day to commit if he was that set on bama already and he knew spots would be limited. At places like bama you better secure your spot early or else there probably won't be one left by signing day.

Agreed, but I would not be surprised to see him visit some schools over the next few weeks and confirm that he wants to be a Grey shirt.

Kid may very well have a scholarship spot in the next few weeks. We still need all the commits to qualify - not a certainty on at least 1. Also, you never know how the current roster will shake out.
Either way, the kid obviously wants to go to Bama. If that means waiting until January to do it (the way starting QB JPW did and the way starting center Bradley Bozeman did) then so be it. Doesn't mean Bama doesn't want him just b/c he delays enrollment.
