Chavis had very little to do with our DB success. That falls on the recruiting & coaching by Corey Raymond. Chavis was the 7th most important coach on the staff.

Lewis-he may flip but likely to Texas if they miss on a couple. Maybe TAM after that. I think he sticks though. It wouldn't be a major loss but still a loss. Kid can play and most importantly brings versatility. He's a S for us with the ability to man up and play CB if needed. We are loaded at S.
He's not the #1 db in the state and might not be #2. Jackson is clearly #1. Deshawn Raymond may be #2 and Derrick Dillon would be if he were listed at CB
Chavis had very little to do with our dB's being drafted highly. Sure he deserves some credit and he gets it but Cooper, Raymond and moreso, pure natural talent had a lot more to do with it.

Anyone who says Chavis leaving isn't have a major impact on LSU defensive recruiting is fricking nuts. Donte Jackson was ALL LSU and from the sounds of this article LSU is involved on media paper only--this kid is headed anywhere but LSU.

LA DB from DBU
Don't you love the way that just rolls off the tongue?
And to answer, we are absurdly stacked at DB both in recruiting and on the team. He is a good player, but not an elite one IMO. Also, he has decommitted before so it would not be surprising for him to do so again, especially with the competition he will face at LSU at his position.

I have been hearing he's interested in A&M. Doesn't mean he'll go there. He's good friends with Tyron Johnson and Donte Jackson, so it'll be interesting to see where all the chips fall.

Regardless of where he ends up, how is Lewis as a player?

very aggressive and physical...i see him as a safety at the next level but will be good wherever he plays.
he is a great tackler and a guy that has a nice football IQ

Seems like the kind of DB we need. Thanks

Brandon Taylor? ...no. BT was the #2 player in LA and a much higher upside. We'll be fine either way.

Lewis is the #6 player in the state and has a similar upside. Their build is similar, their style of play is similar, and Lewis' projected development is the same as Taylor's.
Lewis is 6'0" 175. Taylor is 5'11" and was 175 coming out of high school. He put on 20lbs of muscle and became a safety.
