But until y'all start reaching-out and grabbing big time DLinemen and big time guys in the secondary and at LB ... and you gotta do it year-in and year-out .... well, you understand already.

you mean like what we are already doing?

I never said that. Just because I said we are in the middle of recruiting the necessarily athletes on defense, it doesn't mean one is already in place

Out of curiosity....why?

Because we are basically a suburb of a city that is even bigger than Atlanta, among other things.

We were signing top 15 and top 20 classes prior to the SEC. What changed is now we get a shot at top 5 classes.

According to the historical record as cited in my OP y'all were not even signing an average Top 25 classes prior to joining the SEC.

Heck, in 2007 y'all signed the 43rd ranked class in the country.

I'm not sure I ever remember SCAR signing a class that poorly ranked, not even after a winless season.

Then we should try to make that happen. It would be my pleasure.

The 2000's were a terrible decade for us. Literally the worst since the AP poll began. If there were searchable recruiting archives that extended further into the past, you'd see that our recruiting was much better, including one year when most claimed we had the #1 class in the nation.

Still not as good as it is now, though. Now, our traditional recruiting rivals of UTx and OU have become virtual afterthoughts.

The years right before the coaching changes were low ranked classes - 07 and 11(we were 35th in composite in 11).

What's funny is we got arguably our three best individual players from this era out of those two classes- some skinny tweener named Von Miller in 07, a basketball playing project named Mike Evans in 11 and an undersized QB named Johnny Manziel in 11. The 07 class was bad behind Von but the 11 class has formed the backbone of our program the last few years

IMO, the only real comparisons are SEC recruit classes.

Ditto! If you are ever in Austin for some reason, let me know. I hope to get out that way in two years.

2000-2009 was the only decade in A&M football history in which there was no championship of any kind: National, Conference, or Division - shared or outright.

If you're just going by the threads at the top, it appears to be the Texas A&M board.

These two teams seem pretty evenly matched. I think this is gonna be an awesome rivalry game. A little to far apart but fun nonetheless. I also think SC has positioned themselves to make a top notch hire when Steve retires. From coaching graveyard to a top 20 coaching job in the last five years is pretty damn impressive.

No doubt what Steve has done at SC is remarkable and a complete transformation. This series really will develope into a great rivalry in the not too distant future.

Both schools are on the recruiting up-tick, and are showing great commitment to excellence on the field.

The real losers in all of this? Clempson and tu.
