Saban is a great recruiter, but Alabama has always been able to recruit, during the Shula years they had Severe SCHOLARSHIP LIMITS DUE TO PROBATION... Shula actually did a good job..

Because Bama fans pay more for recruiting sites than any other fan base. You have to feed the masses and Bama is their money maker.

Did I miss a few years of Malzahn being the head coach at Auburn?

We'll see how next year goes. What are you going to think if Auburn pulls out a win next year? What will your reply be then after 2 in a row?

What did you think after Bama beat you 2 in a row?

It sucked for 10 minutes after each game. I didn't shoot anybody or poison anything if that's what you're asking.

ETA: sorry for bringing up Bama fan stuff after losses. That was so "internet message board" of me.

They recruit nationally and they're the winningest program of the past few years. Simple.

Shula wasn't a great closer. He signed some solid classes, considering the limitations he was under. But with his entire coaching career having been in the NFL, he wasn't ready for a college head coaching job. He just did not develop or discipline his players. That was his downfall.

So for those saying that his success as a recruiter is directly related to his talents as a coach, are you also one of those people who like to say Les Miles is a great recruiter but a below average coach? And if this describes you, reconcile these for me.

Nick was playing golf at Pebble Beach a couple of years ago, so he does take some time off.
