Being on here makes the minutes on the bike go by much faster than music alone. Just realized this. Already on 20 minutes.

No hard feelings. Just passing the time. Work on that attitude though. :)

Parents. Not experts, but have seen him in person more times than you have.

You can tell if an OL plays scared or not, it isn't exactly a science. Not like I said "All the parents are questioning his zone blocking technique and footwork. They said he plays too high, and guys get leverage on him and knock him off balance with a bull rush."

This is simple; it isn't just his hobby, it's his life. The guy knows football is his only redeeming legacy. Do a little research about his family life.

He is not the smartest kid in class, but a super smart kid that has relentless work ethic. It isn't a fun hobby. That's ludicrous. He's addicted to the control of it. He can't stop. He breathes it.

There are better recruiters pound for pound, but where saban edges his competitors is in the complete and utter obsession of it. He sacrifices his personal life to succeed on the football field, including his family time; all for a game.

Kudos to saban. He will be a legend to millions of strangers, and a stranger to his own family. Good trade

I agree with everything in your post except:

If we're using the pound for pound metric I seriously doubt anyone surpasses Saban in recruiting. Given the fact Saban is vertically challenged (thus not very heavy) he has a distinct advantage from the get go.

But you're comparing Alabama's probation riddled classes from 2002-2006 to the Saban era. Nevermind the coaching carousel during that time. Look at Dubose's classes from 1997-2000. Those were routinely in the top five. They just never got developed.

This is the deal. Some wont like this. There are 5-6 programs that when they get an excellent coach and recruiter will be very difficult to beat in recruiting. NO particular order here:

Texas
USCw
Ohio State
Michigan- for now. FSU is primed to take this spot. the weak ACC and the new Final 4 format may change this.
Notre Dame
cough Phyllis

because nick saban works harder than any other coach at recruiting, to the point where they complain and get the ncaa to change rules because they cant keep up with a 60 year old man. im pretty sure he was working on 2015 on NSD

So much fail Pat. The thread is about Nick Saban and he brought up the overall series record. So it was a fail, just like your post.

Are there any online recruiting sites that go back that far (1997-2000)?

The list you posted says it all. Until other teams step up and beat Bama to keep them out of the the playoffs or the National Title, Bama will continue to recruit better than everyone else. Plus Saban is a hell of a recruiter. He'll always get players in the league, but knocking them out of the Title contention a few years in a row will have to hurt their recruiting somewhat. Not that they won't pull great classes, just it won't be the same as it is now.

Seriously, if you read the OP it's compliment to Saban's recruiting ability.

So we're talking about current coaches at Bama and Auburn? If you don't want to bring up records of all the past coaches...

Malzahn is 1-0 vs Saban.

I'm back from the gym now. Had a good workout. Lord knows my out-of-shape arse needs it.

Max Prep and a few others were around back to the 1980s. Rivals was in its infancy around 2000 or so. Regardless, you seem to think that Alabama has only recruited well under Nick Saban. That couldn't be further from the truth. The problem is how onlline recrutiing services started around 2002, which was the beginning of Alabama's scholarship reductions and coaching carousel. It has skewed the view of Alabama football, prior to Nick Saban, for some younger fans.
