do you think it is just dumb as all hell and gimmicky, or do you think it is actually valuable and a smart concept?

I think it's fine. Auburn's clearly playing the relationship angle. Georgia and Florida take a different angle with the DawgNight and Friday Night Lights events (massive, energy fueled football camps), but both seem to be effective.

I think AU is working to build a bond between recruits. UGA, UF, etc. are usually able to do that more easily due to the relatively smaller geographic area where their recruits come from.

I love it tbh. I'm glad UGA finally caught on to it.

I think anytime you can get a bunch of big time recruits to show up at your school and hear your pitch then how could it be a bad thing? The object is to land visits because that gives you a chance.

I think it's gimmicky, but it's not supposed to appeal to someone in their late twenties. I think you have to take a utilitarian point of view. If it works and it gets recruit to campus, then it's worth it no matter how cheesy it seems from the outside.

If it's done right, it's a great recruiting tool.

So my honest opinion, given the fact Auburn will have a number of our targets there, is that it makes me nervous.

Good luck, but not too much luck.

Psychologically, I think it creates a demand for Auburn. Those guys look around and see all that talent, and do the math (well...they get someone nearby to do the math) and its clear that not everyone can get a scholarship there.

Probably not the intended effect, but I'm sure it adds something to the equation.

Great tool. Auburn does a good job with their BCW. With everybody doing them now....and some doing similar things 2-3 times in a year, though, I'm afraid it will lose it's appeal/impact.

Agreed. At first it was a huge plus, but so many schools have started doing the same thing now that it has lost some luster. It's still our biggest weekend of the early recruiting period, so it'll always be successful

When y'all rolled out the limos on that 1st Big Cat Road Tour deal, that was the bomb, very creative & made a hella impact that cycle....

They will always be a good tool, IMO. I DO think somebody will come along with another idea and it will steal the limelight for awhile until everybody starts copying that. That's the way the world turns. A good idea comes along and everybody copies it until it is saturated and then the next big thing comes along. The team/school that comes up with these ideas get the most mileage out of them because they do it longest and best.

The innovators flourish. The copiers.....copy.

I just wish we would do something even remotely similar to it instead of being the only team in the SEC to not have some sort of elite camp/weekend.

Wow... did not know that, just assumed every school had some kinda showcase event. Bert needs to get something going, the kids love that shite & with Arky's facilities if you could get a lotta kids in just to look around, who knows...

Is Bret opposed to them?

He says he prefers extremely small events where the coaches can spend a significant amount of time with the kids. Our "junior days" in the spring are like 5-6 kids. It's very disappointing. Really my only complaint about his recruiting so far at Arkansas.

I know, right. It's extremely frustrating. Especially with all of the publicity that the recruiting sites give these things. That alone is worth doing it.

What does it consist of now? Still potato chips, Xbox, and limos?

I'm new to all this so I don't really know anything about the BCW. What is the format and how is everything organized?
