Looks like those discussions took place while I was banned. I never saw those threads as I didn't pay much attention to TD while I was banned. Looks like a pretty comprehensive discussion on the players no longer at AU though.

To even suggest AU has cut players due to oversigning is pretty dumb in the first place anyway.

Ah. Ok. Makes sense and definitely related to oversigning. Knew I could count on you gumps for intelligent and logical thought as always.

So if you were a coach, you would sign 25/85 exactly and count on none of the signess being dumbasses, right?

Luckily for the fans of the two schools, that's not how the coaches do it.

Does Saban oversign because he knows some are wanting to leave?

No. He does it to create greater competition and make players insecure about whether they will be forced out or not to try to get more out of them.

Da’Shaun Barnes (2-Star LB) – never played a snap for Auburn, and was given a medical hardship

If the exact same situation had happened at Bama, you guys would be screaming "Processed by Saban".

Honestly, would you not be?

No and here is why. There is no advantage in given a person a medical hardship unless you are over the 85 limit. That medical hardship scholly went to some walkon who does not play anyway, so it would end up costing the University two scholarships. The part you have a hard time understanding is cutting a player to make room for a better player, like the pros do with the 45 man roster. This is not rocket science, so why is it so hard to understand ?

There is an advantage. If you can free up a scholly to give, why wouldn't you?

Because in the recruiting process you promised a mother you would take care of her child.

If the kid is hurt, what does his mother have to do with it.

Why don't we all just admit that Saban has a nasty habit of processing 4-star talent. Ruthless fricker.

He does it they play like 2-star recruits. Sabans favorite word is "next".

I still have not heard of a player that Saban kicked off the team for not being a good player.

May be someone. I don't know of one.

I couldnt care less about the whole argument. My issues are more with the NCAA and transfering rules.

But I believe the WSJ interviewed a few guys a while back and said they were "pressured" into med schollies even they they felt able to play and were even practicing

What's wrong with wanting to create more competition among your players?

It means you get 110% out of them everyday you have them. No slackers allowed to waste up the limited time the coaches have with them.

You cut out the fat and get down to only the guys that want to compete and take their jobs seriously. Sounds like a very professional approach to me.

If they are a 4 star talent and they come in and perform like a 2 star, then they won't play anyway. So why not urge them on the play for a program that values 2 star performance? There's nothing wrong with receiving a degree from UNA, and getting the opportunity to get playing time on the field as well.

bullshite. He does it when they're stupid and continually do things like fail drug tests, shoot fireworks in the dorms, fail classes, and not commit to making AU eat shite 365 days a year.

If what AU fans want to believe is true actually was, we wouldn't have a bunch of guys like Tyler Love, John Michael Boswell, and Brandon Gibson, who RARELY see the field taking up scholarships. Those are guys who contributed very little on the field, but stayed out of trouble and put forth the effort.
