Dre Kirkpatrick

quote:

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is getting a big raise, according to media reports on Tuesday. The Bengals have decided to pick up the fifth-year option on Kirkpatrick's contract, which puts the former Alabama standout in line for a $7,507,000 payday for the 2016 NFL season.

So his team decided to pay him over $7 million dollars this season, when they didn't have to, because he's a bust. Right?

Mark Barron

quote:

Now, the Rams are headed to Los Angeles, and they're taking Barron with them.NBC Sports, ESPN and NFL Network were among the media outlets reporting the Rams had re-signed Barron just before he would have become a free agent at 3 p.m. CST Wednesday.

Barron's new contract has been reported at a five-year deal for $45 million.

Look at that bust contract.

quote:

Dee Milliner

Has had a torn Achilles, torn labrum and wrist surgery since being drafted.

But he's healthy now and the Jets have high hopes for him this season:

quote:

New York defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said don't count out Dee Milliner – if the former Alabama All-American can stay healthy.

With four-time All-Pro Darrelle Revis recovering from wrist surgery and sitting out offseason drills, the Jets are getting an even better chance to evaluate their cornerback candidates.

During a press conference after New York's second Organized Team Activity workout this week, Rodgers said Milliner is making his presence known.

"Dee is a guy that we really, really expect a lot out of," Rodgers said. "And so far, so good. In the last couple of days, it's been kind of funny that his name has really been coming up. He's made a couple of great plays out in practice. That guy, in my opinion, is hungry, and he wants to do well."

You know, doesn't Milliner's situation sound eerily like Mo Claiborne's, who you said wasn't a bust in this very thread?

So Milliner is a bust in your opinion, but Claiborne isn't? I think your L5U fandom is rearing it's head. Don't you?

They're busts. Well let's just say they underperformed? I mean that's a fact.

LSU and Bamas secondary are both really good.

Do you even know the definition of a bust kid?

An employer paying someone $7 million a year when they didn't have to and another giving their employee $45 million when they didn't have to does not mean they are busts.

Busts end up on the street, not people who increase their pay.

That's a fact.

Gm's in the league have talked about not drafting Bama players because they are skeptical of their nfl production. Can we agree that many Bama players have underperformed

He won't even say that they underperformed. He's not very objective. Basically a homer.

Everybody has some homer in them though. I know I do. Let's just end the argument and say LSU and Bama both have some serious talent on both sides of the ball.

Can't wait for a good game this November

Every team has players that underperform if all that GM talk actually held any weight then Bama would not have had 7 players drafted this year. Hell one of CBs got drafted in the 2nd round.

TideSaint took you guys to school....

I'm pretty sure a lot of the reasonable LSU fans would agree. Having said this, I do believe LSU is ONE of the "DBU" schools....
(see I can be reasonable)

A Bama fan agrees with another Bama fan. Shocker. The dude won't even agree that Mark Barron, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Dee Milliner have underperformed in the NFL.

But LSU is THE DBU. Not "one" of the DBU's. Get it right.

Mr Saint I've noticed that Bama3714 still believes jacoby Stevens will be the safety y'all sign in this class. Do you feel the same

He didn't take anyone to school and to be honest I still stand by what I said in the first place PP7 and Mathieu7 are in the league of their own. Not one db from BAMA in the nfl can be put in the same conversation with those guys. When you mention the BAMA dbs they are on the same level as the other LSU Db's who are in the league. We can all agree once again many of BAMA dbs who were thought to become stars in the league have underperformed ala Kirkpatrick millner, arenas, mark baron. You can talk about contracts but baron is overpaid. In my eyes Eric Reid is better than him just still playing on his rookie deal. Not bashing but all in all BAMA has great dbs but bama is not a school where the DBU monicker usually floats around at its just facts.

Link?

I said they weren't busts. There's a big fricking difference in a bust than someone who still starts for a NFL team a la Mark Barron and Dre Kirkpatrick.

Jesus Christ you are fricking stupid.

Jamarcus Russell is a bust. Trent Richardson is a bust. Barron, Kirkpatrick and Milliner are not. Have they lived up to their potential? No. But they are far from busts.

This thread is pretty terrible in general. But I'll add these numbers with little comment:

If you take the highest star rating given to each of LSU's current 14 scholarship defensive backs, the average rating is 4.42 stars. That is pretty fricking absurd.

I don't know how that compares to any other school and I don't really care. I'm not using this information to support any argument in any direction, just putting the information (caveats included) out there.
