Anyone have news on Allen's LSU visit

Nothing too earth shattering except that all of our commitments are visiting this weekend. It would have been awkward for him to have been the odd man out had he visited now.

Also, apparently Allen has some interest in either being a OT or TE, as LSU's coaching staff was selling him on our staff's instability because our TE coach left.

Unpossible.

Only Alabama would stoop so low as to use negative recruiting tactics on a prospect, especially when it comes to potential staff turnover.

The LSU fans said so!!!

Oh unintelligent, insecure LSixU fan. You would like for that to be the case, wouldn't you?

Let me ask you, before today had you even heard the name Bill Battle?

I'm going to assume the answer is no because, like most of your fan base, knowledge is not something that's necessarily associated with your kind.

Bill Battle is an Alabama alum who went on to compile a 59-22 record as the head coach of the University of Tennessee football program.

In 1981 'ol Bill decided to try his hand in merchandising. I could bore you with the details of this endeavor, but I'll just quote Wikipedia instead:

quote:

The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) is an American collegiate trademark licensing and marketing company. Founded in 1981 by Bill Battle in Selma, Alabama, CLC is the largest and oldest collegiate licensing company in the United States and currently provides its services to more than 200 colleges and universities, athletic conferences, bowl games, the Heisman Trophy, and the NCAA. Headquartered in Atlanta, the company also operates satellite offices in Arizona, Kansas, and Montana. On May 1, 2007, CLC was acquired by IMG.

Got it? Good.

Battle was asked to step into the Alabama AD position after Making Moore passed away from cancer complications a few years ago. Battle didn't need the money. He was doing his alma mater a solid in it's time of need.

Fast forward a few years and Battle contracts cancer of his own. He is currently in remission (as far as we know) but one would probably be right to assume that the cancer battle (pun intended) made him think about the future, specifically of his company and his children.

Now, do you honestly think he was fired or perhaps you're just a mouth breathing fricking idiot?

I'll let you decide.

None of that crap makes you a good AD. Instability is instability. Keep spinning.

Wait a minute. What are you trying to say? That Battle hasn't been a good AD for Alabama?

Let's see:

He hired Avery Johnson who just waltzed into Baton Rouge with a very untalented basketball team and came away with a 15 point win.

He paved the way for the new Thomas-Sewell baseball stadium and got rid of that arse hat Mitch Gaspard.

The Alabama football team has reeled off 3 straight SEC Championships, plus a national title, under his watch.

And instability? How many multi-millionaires do you know that are working past the age of 75?

What more do you want?

If nothing else, thank God Battle is gone. I don't think his tenure was very good for the University. It wasn't terrible, but he had several PR snafus and treated the position too much like a for-profit business. You shouldn't sell naming rights to rooms in the athletic complex while denying club teams the use of the script A all in the name of $$. If we can't make it on what the football team brings in, maybe we need to examine the budget.

And?

He pushed the brand like a businessman.

Maybe if your AD did the same your university wouldn't be in the poorhouse.
