Wrong Pettway counts against the 25 since he had to go to JUCO and come back. McBride in accordance to the new SEC rules still counts against the 25 thanks to Ole Miss a few years ago signing like a dozen guys to sign and place. Now once they signed you eat the spot if they fail to qualify. the same will go for Bo as well.
The other question is how many of the 26 signed(initial counters) were back counted to the 13 class. IIRC it was like 3 or 4 and if so we will still be able to back count 2 or 3 this class. Back counting is huge for us now because it will open more spots up for EEs. Who also have to fall under the current 85 rule minus players graduating in Dec and players the staff now are leaving early for the draft.

So is Bo going the Juco route? And if he does and he sees how Derrick Henrey and the other young bama RBs do do you think he goes to another school?

The word is they are appealing something with the hope of getting him on campus in Jan. If he starts JUCO he could not come in Jan. Also if he goes JUCO he would have to graduate first before coming back to a 4yr. Meaning the earliest that would be is Jan 16 and Henry will be gone. Jones and Tenpenny will as well probably.

My understanding was, that since Pettway was not gone a full calendar year that he did not count against the 25, it is kind of a loophole. Could be wrong though.

I have heard that as speculation but never saw it anyone with validity. He missed the spring and fall. But because he graduated from JUCO and signed the rules(without) any loophole make him an initial counter.
