If a recruit goes to pat dyes ranch before signing day, you can go ahead and kiss them goodbye

Coaches just saw how good of job Felton did with Bryant and were inspired is all....

Hmmmmmmm

Can't read it, but not really surprising.

ETA: Felton will be a defensive analyst. Comes from the Hoover, Rush Propst tree.

not really surprising. A lot of folks are making the HS to college jump.

This is true. It is amazing how many of them are hired by teams that sign their top recruit, too.

Gus hired by Arky the year the Springdale kids all went to Arky. Felton hired by AU the year Bryant goes to AU.

Like you said, not really surprising.

According to Bruce Feldman if the legislation that bans hiring recruits coaches passes it will be retroactive to January so this guy could get screwed. Guess when it looked like he was headed to LSU Gus had to do what he could to get him.

Just like O had to do what he had to do and waited until after NSD to fire a bunch of coaches.

This is recruiting... we're all playing the game.

FWIW Felton is now denying that report

Wouldn't be shocked if it still happens considering all the rumors surrounding this for awhile now

Would expect to hear of one or two of Solomon's coaches going to Michigan, too.

Word around Leesburg is that they were pimping him out hard to both Bama and Michigan in exchange for analyst spots and Harbaugh jumped on the opportunity.

All told, nothing to be surprised by. Bama and Saban created a whole new entry level job for HS coaches looking to advance into the college ranks and the price of admission is usually access to and influence of a prized recruit

I see nothing wrong with if it is indeed true. I am surprised they would hire a coach to secure a commitment from the #271 ranked player in the country. Seems like a bad deal for Auburn, but at the end of the day who really who cares?

who are the HS coaches Bama has hired lately? How many? What kids played for those coaches and committed to Bama?

Bama offers entry level jobs to former college coaches boss. They're on another level.

Pruitt is one instance. Sam Petitto got Devonta Smith. Kerry Stevenson from Vigor got Jalston Fowler.

Everyone does it. No need to get defensive.

My point wasn't that Bama still does it, necessarily, but that Bama is the one that started the practice of hiring analysts (oftentimes HS coaches) as a work around for finding another in with a recruit. It used to be that you had to get a GA position with a coach somewhere and work your way up at Bumfrick U before you got to be the TE and ST coach at a decent program. Now, you can just become an analyst at a major program and translate that into a decent position coach job somewhere else.

So, it has created this whole new flow for the job market wherein it directly benefits HS coaches to shop their guys to the schools that will play that game. And given that it is morally questionable but not breaking any rules, a lot of schools do it.

This encourages me, we just need to bring the bagman back and we easily move into top 5 recruiting classes once again.

We had to hire a hs coach to get one average at best pass rusher. The only pure DE we have signed in 3 years. Damn Gus is a shitty coach. You guys sure you don't want that lazy Garner back at Uga?
