Holy shite. I didn't know he was that big. His weight problems really started to come to light once he hit college and stopped running track.

Pat Patterson well before Tray Blackmon.
I cannot fathom you even being serious with this answer.

Ehh, I guess I took the question the wrong way. I took it as the best recruit with the most disappointing career to not make the NFL...not just simply the best recruit to not make the NFL. I was speaking on terms of, Pat Patterson is arguably the biggest 5* bust ever. Played one year(a terrible year) and was kicked off the team...then went to juco and was again kicked off.

Blackman was definitely a higher recruit. By much? Not so much talent-wise than position-wise.

Also can make a case for Nick Brassell. Saban during recruitment that year said Nick Brassell was the best CB he had ever recruited. Whether that was him attempting to sway Nick or he truly meant it, he still thought highly enough of his game to say it.

And Channing Ward is about to be added to that list.

Mudcat Elmore at UGA didn't even get to start. Heard one time that a coach mocked him at practice saying " 5* my arse!"

That’s what happens when you bring in so many 5* RB’s. The hit rate can’t be 100%. On the other end, we could look at how many made it and start up a separate thread.

And yet you still aren't RBU

Dontae was the top recruit in the nation that year, I would say he was a better "recruit". Plus didn't Mustain get like a few camp appearances or something?

For UK, it's easy:

Micah Johnson. Rivals had him as a 6.0 4*, ranked #36 in the nation. ESPN had him as the 9th best player in America, graded a 91.

He played pretty well at UK, earning Freshman All-SEC, 1st team All-SEC as a JR and 2nd team All-SEC as a SR.

He had a problem with recurring knee injuries, including surgeries in 2007 and 2009.

He spent some time on the Bengals practice squad after being signed/waived a couple of teams as an UDFA.

He's playing for the Calgary Stampeders now.

Any QB signed by Bama in the 80s. Forrest Davis always had them at the top of his list back then.

Dontae Walker, Class of 1999.

I remember him. He was a beast. Last time I saw a picture of him he was 30ish, weighed 400 pds and was graduating from a college somewhere after getting out of prison. I wish him well.

For USC, Demetris Summers was a 5* who got kicked off our team. All-SEC as a freshmen. Spurrier showed up and booted him.

Meat smoked dope like a badger but man what a game he had at UT.

Derek Squeaky Watson was another 5* RB who Holtz kicked off the team before Spurrier arrived.

Both of them were incredible wastes of talent. Wonder what either of them are doing these days?
