Several LSU sites have connections to our staff. They are wrong when the staff is lied to, or lies to them. Still great insight generally

The problem with MOST recruiting sites is you have a 50-60 year old geezer who tries to be hip and scoop the kids.

They generally troll these people. Jimmy detail resonates better with the recruits and can generally be found to have the best info.

Between this story with Hamm and his public Twitter "battle" with Jimmy Smith (which was definitely BOTH of their doings), it's quite clear that Hamm is a joke. In the very least, he is the most unprofessional "journalist" I've seen in recruiting thus far

He is, and unfortunately we don't really have a viable alternative as Liucci isn't any better. LSU actually seems like they have good coverage. Sonny/Shea don't seem too bad when I've gone over there to read about common targets, but then again anything seems professional compared to the shite we have to read. It's making following recruiting unbearable

Hamm is very unnecessarily hostile to his subscribers...not sure why he'd take such a stance with people who are paying him money for info.

The funny part about this little fight is they both share that big problem. People can't see what Liucci says to his subscribers since it's behind an exclusive pay wall but he does the exact same shite. If you question him he gets incredibly defensive and will even attack the poster who dare call him out. Hamm does it as well. Treating your customers that way boggles my mind

Two questions

1) What is Hamm's background?
2) Can I get more information that would lead me to believe this fight is going to occur?

Someone tweeted they need to fight at a basketball game, both responded they were down

I honestly don't know how Hamm got his position. I know Liucci lived with a few players in college and got access to the program that way. He started a newsletter and eventually rolled it into TexAgs

I like perroni (sp? ) from the gigem247 and kipp does a good from grom the bama site. I like sonny and shae but was disappointed they really only presented one side of the players responsible for 1/2. They seem like good people though. Looch I've heard is a grade a cock sucker to his customers and hamm is just a douche.

I think Perroni does a good job and if Hamm keeps up his BS maybe he will replace Hamm as the head guy for 247. Both of our guys are straight dicks to their customers and act like petulant children when called out on something

The only other two 247 sites I go on really LSU and Texas because we recruit so many of the same players. Both your 247 guys seem good and Burton for Texas can be an immature dbag but he's nowhere near the level of our guys

That didn't happen. Someone tweeted that the bickering needed to end and invited them to sit down together at a basketball game. They both accepted that.

I think this was one of the greatest developments of NSD. The idiocy on both sides is just laughable

Most of our recruiting guys are terrible and I've come to the conclusion that they really don't do anything and are hand fed stories by some unknown source.

Case in point.

These two "blurbs" were released within 30 minutes of Demetrius Jackson of committing to Miami on Tuesday morning by our Scout and 247 writers. They both got quotes from Jackson which is normal and all but notice the similarities in the actual writing of those quotes.

Scout:

quote:

Demetrius Jackson signs with Miami...and now...
some thoughts.

This is a young man that I found to be very pleasant.

He kept telling Randy Shannon and the Arkansas staff that he would be a Razorback. Did so over and over and over.

They were always wary of his true intentions.

He went as far to say that he planned a flip on Tuesday, Feb. 4th and gave several recruiting reporters quotes on that.

Here are some of those:

"I am signing with Arkansas. That's for certain. I am just waiting to announce it."
“Arkansas was my first offer and they have been on me hard and they have been loyal to me even when I committed to UM,” Jackson said. “UM hasn't been giving me trouble. UM fans have been giving me trouble if I decide to take a visit.
“This is my life,” Jackson added. “It is whatever I want to do. I am not doing nothing wrong to nobody. That would be the main reason plus I get along with the guys down here. It is a college town and if I get away from home I will grow as a man.”
“It's been crazy,” Jackson said. “At first, people didn't care what college I went to and now all of a sudden they care. That's crazy.”
Arkansas fans:
“It is amazing now, blowing my mind,” Jackson said. “The fans are generous and warm and they accept me. It is a college atmosphere and this is where I want to be – in a college atmosphere like this.”

Randy Shannon
“Denver told me what type of person he is,” Jackson said. “A father figure and that is more interesting to me than just being a football coach. Anybody can coach football. Show me something different than other coaches. Don't talk about football, show me something different. He has been showing me something different – him, Coach B, really the whole coaching staff.”

And now 247:
quote:

“It is amazing now, blowing my mind,” Jackson said. “The fans are generous and warm and they accept me. It is a college atmosphere and this is where I want to be – in a college atmosphere like this.”

On Rory Segrest: “So far he seems like a person that knows what he wants,” Jackson said. “He seems like a defensive guy. He is a big guy.”

“Arkansas was my first offer and they have on me hard and they have been loyal to me even when I committed to UM,” Jackson said.

Denver

“It has been fun – joking and laughing,” Jackson said. “It was like old times...He loves it here. He said the fans are crazy.” Playing football instead of just basketball “It is a great decision – a life changer,” Jackson said. “I know I am blessed because many people have been playing football for years and I step on the football field for one spring. It's not like I haven't done anything – my play is backing it up – for me getting those offers. It is just a humbling experience, blessed and I am thankful. I take nothing for granted.”

Strengths: “Timing, my footwork,” Jackson said. “I am strong and I've got speed. When I come to college, I want to get stronger and faster and run my O-lineman. Either give them a move or if they think I am going to run by them, get in their chest and knock them back, time the ball and tip it. A little all-around.” “It is a fact,” Jackson said. “I am coming here.” “It's been crazy,” Jackson said. “At first, people didn't care what college I went to and now all of a sudden they care. That's crazy.”

The fact that those two inside scoops were written verbatim and published within 30 minutes of the kids commitment tells me that something is up with how hard or not hard in this case that they are actually working. I mean at least change the format up if you are going to copy off someone else.

You see this time and again where all three sites publish something and the text is the exact same.

It makes it tough to justify paying for any of them when the best Arkansas recruiting guy doesn't even charge for his info and usually scoops all of the pay boards.

If I had to choose any pay board however, I would go with Danny West at Rivals. He can be a homer at times but he is young and busts his arse to get info out there. Our 247 guy predominantly posts players twitter updates as his recruiting tidbits and the majority of articles stickieed at the top of the board are from other schools writers.

them having the same quotes is hilarious. For all the crazy shite that has taken place in your program during the internet age I'm surprised you don't have one guy who has gotten famous as an insider

Our best guy is Richard Davenport. He writes for WholeHogSports which is affiliated with the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He got his job there based off of posting recruiting updates on Hogville. I was a member there back then and he just randomly started calling recruits and posting his conversations on the recruiting board. From there he became a site admin running the recruiting forum and then next thing you know the state wide paper hires him straight off a message board to be one of their sports writers.
