You'll want access at dutchtown before it's the other way around. 100 other schools recruit the kids there already, not like they won't have other options.
Arkansas had built up a minor amount of love in the community as a place kids could go and still play sec ball. It's really a bigger advantage for Tulane than LSU that you did this.

I'm not mad y'all let McBride go. He's raw but with his size and elite speed he could have been a good one for the hogs with a little development.

Ed, a year or two from now there isn't a kid at Dutchtown that's going to choose Tulane over Ark if the kid is a SEC caliber player. This will be forgotten quickly.

You so sure about that?

The poster on here from Denham Springs made the same claim last year and yet our recruiting in Lousiana was better than ever this year.
You're trying to imply that we recruit Lousiana hard core which is actually pretty false. Counting this year, we will have signed about 14 kids out of Lousiana over the last 11 years. We'll still be able to find 2-5 kids a year at schools not named Dutchtown. It's kind of a big state.

You guys have had some great la players. Nelson specifically.
You recruit a lot of northern la, and have had a great run in the river parishes in years past. Specifically with kids from the river parishes, you've had a great run. Why piss off the coaches from one of your best spots?

It's messed up the way they handled the process. I know one of the kids and he's upset. Not really mad, just think it's another example of Bert not getting it.

Because they are borderline qualifiers and if you hadn't noticed we are kind of short of quality players. We have a grand total of FIVE scholarship WR's on our roster currently. It is not a position they can afford to miss on.
From my understanding McBride is more than likely going to be qualify once he take the ACT in a week or so but if he doesn't get the right score then he wouldn't be able to make it into an SEC school. Moseley isn't going to meet SEC qualification levels and I think the kid himself realizes that based off his apology tweet.
It's just not something they can wait around on with the new SEC rules. You run the risk of them not making it and you losing a spot that you can't fill over the summer like schools have done in the past. Just two years ago we did exactly that after we signed a guy that wouldn't qualify. We added a receiver to the class on April that took his spot in the 25. Unfortunately you can't do that anymore.
We're not LSU or Bama where we are shuffling in 4 and 5 star players. They are already low on bodies for a new system and can't afford a miss. It just is that way it it. I feel terrible for McBride but I can't fault the staff. Unfortunately their jobs depend on hitting on these targets and improving the team.

Dude, it sucks, but Arkansas had to make a tough choice. Sometimes you take a grade risk, and some you don't chance it. If they're already signing other borderline players, they have to drop others to mitigate the risk involved. You're overreacting though. It's not like Arky is targeting BR kids hoping the can take away their offer.

Have a great day. Ready for the game in two days.

I feel for the kid(s) but they will end up at another school on scholarship or be in JUCO next year.
You act like Bert don't care and you don't know the behind the scenes. Since you are close to the situation...Can you confirm that these kids aren't borderline?

I can confirm this blindsided mcbride and was unexpected

I can confirm if they had the grade qualifications *right now* we would've signed them. Our staff wanted 5 WR's commits this class and right now we have 3.
Bret is doing all he can to get the numbers up of guys they feel can play as quickly as possible. We can't be losing scholarships because a kid is a risk of not qualifying. Yes, they need a C. Will they get it? Maybe. SEC teams can't take a chance, especially ones in our situation when we need players. If they get a d, we're screwed.
We can't risk it. What part of that don't you understand?
Best of luck if they pick TCU or a team in another conference who can take the risk.

Once word Arkansas wouldn’t honor Mosley and McBride’s commitments came out on Wednesday, Arkansas followers shot back on Twitter saying both players were dropped because of academic issues. Saia said both players are actually better off academically than when they committed and said both are on track to be NCAA qualifiers. “They’re in better place now than they were when Arkansas took them as commitments,” Saia said. “They both have a high enough ACT score. One has a 19 and the other has a 22. All both of them need to do is make a C in one class, and they’ll be qualified.”

So they're currently not qualified. Thanks coach for clarifying.

Players will forget about it but coaches may hold grudges.
