General trend seems to be good news for the Dawgs, but nothing ever a done deal. Any inklings from Bama insiders?

Some "insider" on BOL has been saying Anderson to Bama for weeks now, but Tim Watts said he was all Dawg on Sunday.

I'd take Watts' word over that idiot's every day of the week.

Tide,

I read the comments on that article on BOL and some of the Bama fans were accusing Kirby of "stealing" bama recruits and calling him 3rd and Kirby. Why would some Tide fans consider a kid from GA choosing UGA as stealing a recruit? Is it entitlement and/or frustration over the current class?

Serious question, just trying to understand the logic there

I disagree. I don't think UGA fans are ever irrational.

Don't venture over there expecting rational discussion.

They don't take kindly to any news that isn't positive for Alabama.

Just curious on the realistic class size for 18' at Georgia....I have read several estimates and they range greatly. I was hoping for a more expert opinion from one of the UGA posters who always seem to have inside information. Is it 18? 25? 21?

I've seen 24-25 thrown out as the most likely numbers.

24 should be our *max* due to the blueshirt for Marvin (kicker addition in 2017 class, but "initial counter" in the 18 class). The only thing I'm uncertain on is what is Wyatt's status in last year's class, did him not qualifying open up an initial counter spot in the 17 class for back-counting purposes (if that's still allowed, have seen mixed messages there). If either he, or another player can be back counted into that spot, then we could still take up to 25. Did a worksheet on available scholarship room that's in our recruiting thread as a link to google doc... haven't updated since the Fields commitment, but will likely take a look at some of my original projected NFL possibilities and update, as they were more worst case scenario than anything.

It sounds like Kirby will be trying to max this class out now though, kind of related to the Fields commitment and the increased interest from more elite players that seemed like long shots previously, whereas before many thought it might be a smaller class.

It'll be interesting to see how Kirby massages the numbers. I know we have some lower rated prospects us fans have never seen, but the staff loves. I wonder if a few guys are encouraged to look elsewhere, because we don't have room for some of these blue chip players.

I hope it doesn't come to that. We should have room for more big recruits if the number 24 turns out to be true. The interesting part to me is going to be when the December Signing Period rolls around. I think prospects will be more opt to hit it then, instead of waiting, if UGA has a limited class size.

Sometimes it's more than just "encouraged" and rather mutual, with the likelihood of finding their way to the playing field looking slimmer... it's also challenging to make that kind of judgement as a fan... it's easy to say "oh, so and so is a ### ranked player and the other is lower" but the coaches know what they're looking for, so ultimately I trust them to make the right calls.

At a class size of 16 currently and room for probably 8, hard decisions will be made. It's interesting to me that Faalele is still getting legitimate interest from our coaches, as I'm just not sure where they'd fit him in... figuratively and literally.

Gotta assume there are a minimum of 2-3 spots open for additional LB/DE types (ie. Adam Anderson, Otis Reese, KJ Henry, Micah Parsons?, etc)... so that would leave 5-6 spots. Going to take at least one more OL (presumably Salyer), with Hill being the probable desired take, maybe Faalele is the backup for that spot in the class - given Hill's increased Auburn interest. I figure we take at least one more DT, maybe 2 if we can get them (ie. Trout/Cooper/Barmore)... the class spots start filling up quickly for sure. I'm pretty sure Smart wants at least one more corner and a lot of people still projecting Tyreke Johnson in our class, even though he's almost definitely a safety. If I take the high side on LB/DE, that's 3+2+(1 or 2)+(1 or 2)... I mean, that's essentially your finished class unless there are changes on the existing commits board or if we're unable to land some of the above which seem to be probable at least currently.
