The only guy we've lost so far that really hurts is Edoga. That's it. The rest of UGA's top targets are still realistic possibilities, and Edoga is too, really.

Perhaps. All things considered, I wouldn't bet on you guys to pull too many more GA recruits than in recent cycles.

Again, excellent recruiting assuages those concerns.

I've followed UGA recruiting for 5 years. We've never been in this good of a position at this point since that time. I know it's hard to believe since most people are looking at the GA top 15 list as some kind of scorecard that matters, but UGA is in good shape.

Do not speak of things about which you do not know. Recruiting is always different for each kid. In Griffin's case, he has an older brother who was sold a bill of goods about being the next stud QB at Tech. It didn't work out. This time around, they didn't want to hear an bs from coaches. They knew what they were looking for and found it.

Trust me, if there was a coach that could have pulled it off, it was BMac. The Griffins actually like BMac a lot, but it wasn't the right fit.

Really? Y'all got some OT/OL prospects flying under the radar that I don't know a/b?

In sales, you either make the sale or you don't. There will always be an excuse for why you couldn't get it done, and in some instances it may even be perfectly valid, but Griffin is just another in a long line of GA recruits who UGA wanted but who is headed out of state. Maybe your staff turns it around and lands everyone else this cycle, but at this point in time it appears that things are same as they ever were. And I'd bet on that being the case in February, too.

Whatever. I just find it funny that everybody tells us when we should panic without even having an idea of the circumstances involved, what UGA's board looks like, etc. It's just straight up flaming. Nothing more.

It isn't that you were wrong, it is that you are a bit early with your declaration. That top ten is going to change some, Edoga's recruitment is far from over and most importantly, all 4 of those uncommitted guys will be Dawgs.

And y'all just might get to see that, if you can fend off Notre Dame.

People wouldn't be making comments like that if your entire fanbase didn't flip out over the hire and start talking a/b locking down the state, dummy.

Yeah, it was such a blah hire, we really shouldn't have gotten so excited about it.

Like USC fans wouldn't still be sitting around talking about how they're going to win the '14 NC and booking flights and hotel rooms for the playoffs.

Be as excited as you want. But it's not "flaming" to point out that your enthusiasm may have been misplaced w/r/t in-state recruiting.

Yeah, I can't say I'm too worried about that. Chauncey is about as solid as a recruit gets, he is transferring HS in order to play with his friend that UGA is working on flipping from Bama.

This shite right here is not needed. This was a perfectly good flamefest. We don't need actual reason and discussion on the RB. That is sooooooo last year.

The thing is that you don't actually have a point right now. It is another 9 month until NSD, it would be like declaring Dylan Thompson a surefire success or failure after the first quarter of the game vs TAMU.

You said something about sales earlier, but you were wrong. When you walk in the door with the wrong product, it doesn't matter how good a salesperson you are, you are not likely to close that deal. That is what happened with Griffin. He eliminated us when Chubb and Michel committed, exactly the same as what Mike Davis did when he realized we were getting both Gurley and Marshall.

Hyatt is a legacy. Brown is a miss, I guess, but on Grantham's staff, not Pruitt. Williams, we do suck at recruiting WRs. Edoga isn't over with and everyone else on that top ten list is coming to UGA. You've got a distorted view of where we actually stand in recruiting.

We will stand in the TOP 10 just like most other years. I think we make a push for Top 5 this year but we shall see. We have some strong players left on the board.

05. Mekhi Brown - Alabama
06. Preston Williams - Tennessee
07. Taj Griffin - Oregon
08. Rashad Roundtree - Uncommitted
09. Natrez Patrick - Uncommitted
10. Roquan Smith -

The spots are almost taken.

No concern here.

We wind up with, MINIMUM, 5 on this list.

Wheel Route, I just love that the first thing you had to "remind" UGA fans was that USC plays them every year. Sorry, USCe is an important conference game for UGA, but that is all. They are not likely to be a rival of UGA's any time soon.

While I think it seems to be a very important cultural point in the south to want to land instate high school talent, that is just not the MO of UGA. I hate to say it to some of the UGA faithful on this board, but UGA's success under Richt has usually been predicated on OOS talent rather than instate talent. Sure, there is there is a very large D1 talent pool in the state and moreso in the REGIONAL population center of metro Atlanta, but UGA's success and lack of it is less a recruiting issue than a school policy issue that has routinely seen UGA competing with numbers far below the 85 that other teams are using, whether it is due to injury, suspension, or dismissal.

I can't believe I'm going to have to explain this but USC plays UGA once a year. Your recruiting failures contribute in some way to our success. Taj Griffin committing to Oregon means I don't have to see Taj Griffin returning kicks in Williams-Brice.
