Like I said, I think this is a much better fit than Gibson when you consider what we have at the WR position.
I don't know. I kind of wanted to see an elite 5* dual threat QB running Butch's up tempo offense. Imo arm strength is an overrated aspect of quarterbacking, especially in college.

These are cliffs from a poster on VQ on a Barton Simmons interview this morning dealing with Dormady, his thoughts on Gibson, and Bama trying to grab Dormady last week. FTR,
Concerning Gibson, I'll be the first to admit I would have loved to have him. But, and I'm probably in the minority when saying this from a UT fan standpoint, let that ship sail. I don't want to label AU as a run first spread based off of what they did last year with Marshall, obviously. I'm sure Gus shaped his offense with what was available but I think Gibson fits better at AU with the spread that Gus runs then with the "Pro-Spread" that we run. IMO, for Gibson to truly unlock his potential at QB he's going to need at minimum a red shirt season and lots of developmental guidance along the way. The way the AU depth chart sets up is a much better situation then what's available in Knoxville. So from that aspect, it's easier to gamble with taking Gibson. Where as If we take him and he turns out to be a bust at QB. We're way up shite Creek without a paddle, a QB, and depth.
I would have loved to have him, but IMO it's not worth losing a commitment from either of the 2 we have on board right now. That, and the way he's handled his commitment up to this point has started to turn me off to the guy. Just my 2 cents
quote:
- He said Dormady was a great pick up, you know what your getting and has proven to have a great arm, arguably strongest arm in the class
- Said this probably helps Auburn with Gibson because he strongly thinks Tennessee already has it 2 QB's in Dormady and Jennings.
- Said that Jennings is actually faster than Gibson and as just as proven as a QB if not more than Gibson. He also said coaches are tired of playing Gibsons games and it's turning a lot of folks away.
- Also on Gibson said he shys away from playing QB at camps and just lines up at WR so people really wonder if he is going to be a college QB. He will continue to get rated as an athlete until he starts trying to take reps as a QB at camps
- Last note on Dormady's Bama offer. He said that Saban and Kiffin really wanted Dormady after working him out but that Dormady already had a trust factor with the Vol staff. He also noted that Dormady said there was nothing that Bama offered that was more impressive than Tennessee and if anything they were on equal footing. He said if Tennessee starts winning again that their recruiting could be just as impressive if not more than Bamas right now.

Dormady has a cannon. I think him and Jennings both have major potential for UT.
I like having a pass first QB with the weapons we are accumulating at WR and TE. Best part is where Dormady is completely shutting down his commitment.
Time to solidify the offensive and defensive lines
Disagree on the best part... the best is that Dormady is going to be an EE. With Riley flaking out on us we needed a QB who could EE badly. Because in 2015 we'll have Dobbs, Peterman, and Dormady EE'ing enables him to be a backup a hell of lot easier than a true frosh with no EE experience and if 2015 were to turn out like 2013 on the injury front we'd need him ready to play.
He'll RS if possible though and by 2016 he'll have 2 springs instead of the usual 1 behind him going into his RS Frosh season. He'll be more than ready to either backup a Senior Dobbs (or Peterman) or take the reins himself.

I just don't get why Dormady would scare off Gibson if he thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's not like AU, OSU, LSU ect. don't sign two QBs in a class ever. Counting Dormady, UT has 3 QBs on roster in 2015. Most schools 4 if not 5.
I'm still holding out hope the Murfreesboro guy ends up at safety cause I think he has all the potential in the world there.

Jennings looks ridiculously improved as a QB. I would not write him off just yet.

Dormady must have been high on crack and shrooms and thought he was at the real UT in Austin. Its understandable since they both wear ugly orange uniforms and have unrealistic fans. This is the only possible thing that could explain this extremely inaccurate and ridiculous quote. Keep dreaming though.

i wanna see what jennings does at QB this fall... will be interesting to see the numbers he puts up.
UT needs athletes on defense... so having a potential elite DB committed is nice... especially since there's another solid QB committed.

i agree with pretty much all of this.... AU is in a better position to take a run at a guy like TG... where as UT needs a more college-ready passer.

3 Questions. How many straight games is it now that UA has beat Tenn? How many NC's have you guys won in the last 5 years, now many have UA won? Don't want to answer... then come back when your balls come in son.
