He is still showing up as a 5 star on my laptop.

x3

He has great natural ability, but weight fluctuations, technique and move questions, and inconsistent camps shows he's not a 5* by the writ of the original definition. High 4 is around where he should be.

I was a big proponent against Matt Elam being ranked so high by 247 last year as well, even before he committed to UK. I don't think he was 5* material, 247 was stuck with what I consider the mistake of jumping him that high to begin with.

A scheme specific, 2 down, overweight player isn't one who fits an instant impact role at 95% of the schools. He will be a talented player, but I don't think it's gonna right off the bat. Similar with Payne IMO.

This is why ranking based on fake football is stupid.

Our (former) 5* Shameik Blackshear lost his 5th star this time around after not participating in any camps. You gotta dance for these guys if you want the recognition. I'd still take Blackshear over just a/b any other DE in this class.

Like how Rivals ignores the Opening, I believe 247 ignores the 5* Challenge and the like.

Thompson only dropped to 8th but he didn't show up for the camps.

Blackshear dropped from a 98 to a 97 rating. I think earlier he dropped from 99 to 98.

Mark Fields jumped from a 96 to a 97 (and a/b 30 spots in the rankings).

Everyone else stayed the same for USC. I really thought Sherrod Pittman would get a bump from 4*/92, though, given he was mentioned as an alternate of sorts on the All-Opening team.

Honestly this doesn't really mean a whole lot. Alot of these guys are jumping people that had amazing film but haven't been to the recent camps. They are basing it from football played in a 7 on 7 no pads environment. When the real football is played then the ratings will again fluctuate.

Looks like A&M picked up a 5 star

A&M LOST a 5-star.

Murray, Mack, and Lodge were all 5-stars.

Lodge is now the highest rated 4-star.

I think it was composite. It was showing three 5-star players.

Must have been the previous number.

Why are you waiting for me?

ETA: I probably won't see your response until late this afternoon. I'm in Anti-Terrorism training all week.

Jeffrey Holland also took a big hit because he couldn't afford the trip to participate.

I think Christian jumped into the Top100 now though.

Ah, I just noted that he stayed at a 95 rating and moved on. If the rating stays the same, a move up/down in the rankings is most likely attributable to the people around the player being moved, not a reassessment of our player's skills.

I think that they just ranked him above some of the other guys they also have rated as a 95. (There's about 20 behind him with that rating.) I think he jumped up 7 spots to get in the Top 100. So naturally this is after he committed to SC, so he got that Cock Bump in the rankings.

The crappy thing, is Murray dropping.

I understand if you move him down, but to put him behind Stidham, in which he was already ranked ahead AND finished ahead on the QB gurus list from the Opening, just doesn't make sense.

They thought he was better going in, and he was better coming out, yet they swapped?
