It’s still very early for the class of 2013. The verdict wont truly be in for at least two more seasons, and in some cases four. But the current freshman class is already making big plays on the field on Saturdays in meaningful games and we’re already getting a feel for where we were on the mark, and inevitably where we missed.

Below, I take a look at how I would reshuffle the 5-star rankings for the class of 2013 based on what we know today and continuing to project for NFL potential.

Note: this is purely an exercise and doesn’t affect the actual rankings. The list below also does not include prep school standouts like Georgia’s Leonard Floyd. This list is pulled strictly from freshmen that were in the high school class of 2013.

SEC Players and a new #1

1. Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State - up from #7

2. A’Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama - up from #26

3. Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida - up from #4

4. Chris Jones, DE, Mississippi State - down from #2

8. Alex Collins, RB, Arkansas - up from #17

9. Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss - up from #28

11. Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn - down from #10

12. Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss - down from #3

14. Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama - down from #11

16. Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama - down from #12

18. Elijah Daniel, DL, Auburn - up from #27

19. O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama - up from #20

20. Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU - down from #9

22. Carl Lawson, DE, Auburn - up from #24

23. Ricky Seals-Jones, WR, Texas A&M - no change

24. Tony Conner, S, Ole Miss - up from #25

26. Robert Nkemdiche, DL, Ole Miss - down from #1

31. Rashard Robinson, CB, LSU - up from #118

32. Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama - down from #15

It's laughable that they left Marquez North off this list. The guy is uber-talented.

If anything he's just being punished because we lack a truly competent QB.

Edit: Though after review, his stats don't justify his inclusion. He's just a super talented athlete, that will most definitely(barring a career ending injury) play on Sundays.

huge jump there, the sites missed on him. I dont think he went to camps and stuff though.

Does Henry get many carries? Seems all I've heard about is Yeldon and Drake

eta: North is very good

He only has 12 carries for the year.

Seems like he should have fallen further. For a 5*, that looks like a disappointment.

The re rankings don't make a ton of sense. Why is Elijah Daniel ahead of Carl Lawson? Carl Lawson was higher on the original rankings and has made much more impact thus far this season. Looks like someone mailed it in on the re-rankings effort.

I'll never understand why Alabama let Hackenberg go to Child Molestor U and we took talks like a chick Bateman.

Wasn't a matter of 'letting' him do anything.
