Just been playing around with Stassen's Aggregate Conference Record tool and there's some interesting stuff:

Removing TAMU and Missouri from the grouping (just to make it easier) the other 12 SEC teams have winning records over every conference but the Big East and Ivy league.

Sun Belt: 107-7
WAC: 78-12
MAC: 73-15
CUSA: 102-22
PAC 12: 70-43
MWC: 11-7
ACC: 556-358-42
Big XII: 102-77-6
Big Ten: 85-70-6
IVY: 12-13
Big East: 26-32

There are obvious issues with Stassen, this only reflects current conference affiliation so for example Nebraska beating Tennessee in '97 counts as a loss to the Big Ten, not Big 12. Removing NU gives us a 76-52 record against the Big Ten.

Removing Pittsburgh and Syracuse from the ACC numbers we (current SEC-TAMU&UM) are 543-342-39 against them. Only one SEC team has never beat an ACC team: Arkansas. They've lost every single game they've played.

South Carolina and Arkansas's games before they joined the SEC frick up the numbers a little bit but it is what it is. Removing USC's record against the ACC when it was a member and independent we get an SEC record of 413-205-26.

The Ivy League I get but the Big East is odd. Is there one matchup that skews if?

I'm really confused now. I tried to look that up and I realized I'm wrong - Stassen isn't just current conference affiliation because it lists Mississippi State losing to WVU as a Big East loss.

So yea, the stuff I posted is even more fricked now. Maybe the numbers there are accurate or someone who understands it better can explain it to me.

Anyhow from the look of it Kentucky's frequent losses to Louisville are probably the biggest problem. A few teams are winless against the BE, Arky is 0-3, UGA and MSU are 0-2 and Vandy is 1-4. Had those teams done better we wouldn't be sitting at 26-32. It's just that we don't play them that often.

In the 80's Miami & Va tech went 20-8 vs the SEC, in the '00's WVU went 5-1... so thats 25-9 right there...

As dallas said they used to be better. That and my guess is that when most SEC teams play Big East schools they are in lower tier bowl match ups so it's the higher finishing Big East school and usually an SEC school that's low as shite in the bowl lineup. If that makes any sense.

I'm guessing it's counting the conference they were in at the time the game was played? I dunno

So essentially take out the two best records and it doesn't look as good? Shocker

Yes. Take out GT and Clemson. Then take out every game that we won against every team.

Dang. That doesn't look so good now.

We still were 33-26-5 so at least we still kick arse. Our issues came against UVA and UNC oddly enough

Well I made it sound worse than it really is for Arkansas. Yes, they have lost every game they've ever played against the ACC but they've only played three:

1995 Carquest Bowl vs. UNC. L 20-10
1981 Gator Bowl vs. UNC. L 31-27
1961 Cotton Bowl vs. Duke. L 7-6

I hope so. That would make the first set of numbers I posted (the ones without the commentary below) correct. I would think it would mean I could group Missouri and Texas A&M along without causing any problems.

Oh. Well in that case they need to get off their arse and schedule some ACC folk. There's more in this world than the SWC and PAC 12 you dorks

They went up by 800. frick it. This is simple but I don't know how to do this shite. I mean I know how, just run it like that then run another for your time in the Big Twelve and subtract those games out...but I'm lazy.

You gotta remember too that the ACC didn't start till 1953...so leaving out aTm & Mizzou(too new)SEC team records vs the ACC (includes SCe, Miami, VT etc. when they entered)...etc

UA...21-3
AU...33-10
Ark...0-3
OM...1-3
MSU...4-5
LSU...19-2

UGA...71-25-5
UF...29-22-2
UT...35-15-1
SCe...120-111-6
VU...31-23
UK...11-11-1

mcubed.net example

Click on ACC & scroll down it will show you every Bama ACC game played when the opponent was in the ACC.. i.e. doesn't include wins over SCe when they were Ind. or in the SEC(only ACC games)...

For the brave and bored maybe somebody could figure out how the Southern Conference, if it continued with the members it had in 1922, would look today against other conferences. That'd be a pain though.

I don't know why anyone would discredit UGA wins vs Tech and Clemson. They have had some very strong eras.

I'm surprised that series isn't played more often.
