That is my reasoning. That and Texas being a recruiting hotbed.

So is California..

If the homerism is just to coach in the SEC with a better budget than Ole Miss it would be TAMU.

However, if that's the only difference between Ole Miss and TAMU it's not thinking very objectively.

This is completely disregarding coaches who want to go 'Home' to coach at as a former player or fan from their own state.

1.) aTm - Should see a boost after joining the SEC
2.) UCLA - With USC scholarship limitations starting to take affect, they have a huge opportunity to take the city & PAC-12 south.

I wouldn't touch any of the others.

Pac12 TV contract will do what it did for the SEC. WSU just hired Leach and in the article it stated they never wouldn've been able to hire him if it wasn't for the upcoming $20M per team.

Is Wazoo a solvent athletic program? Hell no! Pac 12 money has allowed them to hire a coach that won't be able to recruit the athletes to do better than 8 or 9 wins at best with USC and Oregon in the conference.

This TV contract money is making HC's rich in conferences that are meh!

HC's are laughing all the way to the bank, Washington State

This week has proven this to be untrue. At least at the present.

It'll be easy since SC can only take 15 players each year for the next 3...

Just sayin'...

TAMU has a very loyal rabid fanbase that has shown in the past it will fund the program to get the best talent out there

They have never funded the program before..

Sherman at $2.2M was the 12 highest paid coach in the SEC. We will see if they step up or not.

Remember we are talking about a school that borrowed money from the University in the past.

So you are saying you'd put TAMU at the top because they have a rabid fan base? That's it?

I was alluding to their past NCAA run ins not so much facilities and coaches

Texas A&M and it's not even close.

A&M is a sleeping giant. A&M has faced the same political issues that LSU faced that has kept it from reaching it's potential prior to 2000. Bowen Loftin is to A&M what Mark Emmert was to LSU. Any LSU fan that has been a fan longer than 2000 knows exactly what I mean.

ASU and Penn State would be about equal right now, but 5 years from now Penn State will be one of the Top Ten jobs in America again.

UCLA and Ole Miss come in at the bottom. Ole Miss will never be able to overcome all the problems (ie recruiting base and $$$) they face to be power that their fanbase so desperately want them to be. UCLA has horrible facilities and an administration that could care less about football. Until some people there that have a little power decide that they really want to compete in football, this is a horrible job.

I don't think they even have a 100 yard practice field. And I don't mean a indoor practice facility.

A&M, chance to become a legend, higher risk, but higher reward

Penn State same thing

UCLA, if you've been to UCLA campus, you know why

ASU, why live in arizona if you can live in SOCAL

I've been hearing this my whole life. Texas A&M continues to make bad hires and nothing has changed. Potential at LSU has and always will be better than TAMU. It's the only game in town with a very nice recruiting base.

LSU doesn't have a bigger program in their own state not to mention another program that is almost literally in their state (OU)

Why in 5 years is Penn State a top 10 job and ASU is not? Besides Penn being the only game in town in their state.

Why can't you become the same legend at ASU with an easier road to hoe?

Penn State is already built and needs someone to manage not become legendary.

Homerism at it's finest, which is fine because the SEC is the best and I hate the Pac12 junk out here, but..... Thinking objectively makes me place TAMU towards the bottom for the reasons I listed prior.

Yeah, it sounds like you have absolutely no bias against A&M.

You may have some valid points, but there is no way A&M is in the bottom half of coaching vacancies.

TAMU has a lot more going against it than ASU does. There is a reason they aren't good in the modern area of football.

1. They pay their coach only $2.2M (12th highest in the SEC)
2. They are 3rd best in the region for Texas kids (UT, OSU, LSU)
3. Their weird culture, perception does matter which does matter.
*This could be why they are rumored to be looking at 2 good minority coaches* (Houston, Louisville)
4. Has had past money issues by borrowing money from the University for Athletics 5. You have LSU, Ark, Bama and Auburn in your division.

All of these factors could change.. but it's take a coach to change that and why fight those battles when you can go to ASU and start off with an easier work load right out of the gate?

I personally make fun of TAMU as an Arkansas fan but I'm putting that aside and justifying why ASU is a better choice. In Theory UCLA and TAMU should be top 10 jobs every year but haven't been.. Why, I'm going with the reasons I listed above.

Any team going up against LSU, BAMA, Aubutn and Arky every year is a bad job.

Had this discussion with my boss today. I agree completely. PSU is still a Top 10 job in all of college football.
