I'm going to upvote an Auburn post for the first time ever. It feels good...liberating in fact!

What do you mean by ghetto accent?

I'm assuming you're referring to the way you think all black people sound, so I'll reply accordingly. in the rural south from NC across the "black belt" all the way to east tx, black and white people tend to sound a lot alike because they live so close to each other. As opposed to in yankeedom where you live in separate towns. So your "ghetto accent" is really just a deep southern accent which sounds pretty similar regardless or the color of user.

Fwiw, baw, I lived in North Carolina when I was in college (Greenville - East Carolina University) and my brother currently lives in Greenville, South Carolina. No need to lecture me, baw. I'm very familiar with the south, baw.

You can try to peg me as racist by pointing to my "ghetto" comment, but I'm not falling for that uneducated bait...baw.

Fact is, some blacks and whites choose to speak with an uneducated ghetto accent, a celebration of mediocrity and victimization. Hip hop doesn't help.

Some blacks and whites choose a different path, one focused on education, self improvement, and career goals. It's amazing how you rarely see blacks or whites on this path speaking with a ghetto accent.

Why is that?

Have those blacks and whites "sold out"? That's what the media would have us believe. The media and special interest groups push the narrative that ghetto culture based upon self victimization should be celebrated.

If you think this is racist, then please tell me why more and more blacks are shunning ghetto culture? Are they racist too? Are successful blacks and whites, who speak with a more professional tone, the problem?

touche.... point well made, killz.

I guess I'd have to hear the accent to know if we're thinking about the same thing. I find that more and more people from the South are pushing back against the narrative that Southern accents make people sound dumb, and fewer folks are trying not to sound like their regional accent/dialect. Maybe this is a byproduct or intertwined into that revolution.

As far as the rap goes, that is unfortunate, and yea it's unfortunately leeched into society more than just about any other genre except for country. I really hope that changes.

I don't think southern accents sound dumb. When I say "ghetto", im talking about girls who sound like this:

"Oh know she didn't! Oh HELL nah! Girrrrrl. Bitch gonna get wrecked! I ain't even playin!"

That's what the little wannabe SC white girls sounded like. You think that's an accent which should be celebrated?

Ive had pretty good times everywhere except baton rouge. That is nastiest, drunken smelly place ive ever been. Do they have to get in your face to yell tigerbait at the top of their lungs?Shite was said to my wife totally overthe top. It goes on and on. Had an lsu dude want to fight while I was takin a piss. So bad I stopped going. No place in America are visiting fans treated like baton rouge and they r proud of it. I was quite surprised at what arseholes south carolina fans were but so were clemson fans. Didnt expect that one. A&m has the best. Florida doesnt say much. Gators are pretty cool to hang with. States the same. Auburn, u know half of em, tennessee were pricks during fulmers years but most of the time theyre ok. Everybody but lsu seems to b fine. South carolina maybe but still not in lsu's class.

Fwiw, WG Dawg said Mizzou fans were the most hospitable fans he'd ever met. His experience in Columbia, MO was a very positive fun experience. Same with several other posters here who've been to a Mizzou game. It honestly shocked them, especially when they realized Mizzou's entertainment district is at least 5 times larger than Fayetteville's Dickson district (courtesy of Stonehog's first hand admission).

Be honest, you've never stepped foot in Tuscaloosa. And if you have, you thought our chicks were hot as frick and you felt sad inside.

I've never had but 1 problem in Baton Rouge where a drunk guy yelled shite at my wife. He borderline got his arse beat by his own LSU fanbase.

Outside of that, I find Baton Rouge fun. It has a bad reputation that LSU fans love to hate. Maybe it's also because Bama hardly loses there. It's Tuscaloosa West to us.

Yeah, that's just drunk southern girl speak, man. It happens to the best of em after a few drinks, regardless of how well reared, what sorority or color. I don't know where it comes from or why, but it's just another person that's kept deep down and only comes out at certain times.

Alabama fans - way too serious. You can't even joke about anything with them because they'll take it seriously & get offended.

Louisiana State - completely insane. (In a good way)

Old Piss - drunk pricks

State - I would make fun of them for being rednecks but they don't have many rednecks at their games that I've noticed.

Tennessee - they just need to relax & accept the fact that they're not good anymore.

Arkansas - pretty cool.

Texas A&M - lot of homosexuals who go around trying to prove to people just how homosexual they are.

Georgia - fine girls.

Auburn-love the trip (first ever road trip with my dad when I was like 12). Have been back once since. Need to go again. Like the pregame. Fans are cool.

Alabama-awesome experience all 3 times. Last year went solo and just had a good time. General mutual respect among fan bases from what I can tell. The GOTC was the best football atmosphere I have been around ever. Older fans are really awesome...younger fans are (justifiably) entitled and obnoxious (prolly same as everywhere). Still remember the callers on the post game show wondering if they should get rid of Saban bc he couldn't beat miles (2-4 at the time I believe?)...boy how that has changed

aTm - had an awesome time there. I've said it before it's the most similar in passion that I have seen to LSU. I know some people think their cheers/yells are weird (and they kind of are) but it's really cool to see an entire stadium of people moving and yelling cohesively like that. Great people as well. Won't meet a kinder bunch irl

Ms st- one of my fav road trips (record against them and distance helps). Made 6 consecutive trips to starkvegas until this past year. People are great. Town is terrible but getting better all the time.

Ole miss-people were pretty cool, grove people were mostly obnoxious (corn dogs in rope traps...really?) grove is a weird sight, not for me. Walk of champions b4 game is cool but also a bit ironic. There was literally a kkk rally on campus the day of the last game I attended. Weird place. I disagree with a previous poster and say Oxford was overrated.

Arky- LR...wth were we forced to play here for like 20 years. Terrible stadium city and fans. Miracle @ markham doesn't help.
Fayetteville was wayyyy better. The weather kind of dulled the trip (brutally cold and rainy/windy). So did the beat down. Cool fans cool city.

Georgia - best sec city and campus bar none. Love Athens. Will go again. People Friday night were Aweslme. People Saturday were strange. So many men with dog costumes. Guys literally barked at u...like grown men. They were deservedly pissed after the game as that was the aj celebration penalty game. But if u have the chance...go to a game between the hedges.

Florida-meh. May be second least impressive sec city behind Starkville. Fans were disinterested before the game which was surprising. I heard what a hostile environment it could be and I was pumped. Good fans leaving the game (j Lee 2 pick 6 game) and stadium was rocking. But was hoping for more of a bama/Uga feel and was let down

South Carolina-city was cool historically but tailgating scene sucked. Coolest thing was the folks that tailgaited in a train car but those were super private. Worst fan experience I have ever had. Got batteries thrown at us in the stadium. We had just lost to Florida the week before (see above post) and their fans were doing the gator chomp at us...I think uf had beaten them like ten yrs in a row lol. Stadium is pretty cool. Lights for the stadium were awesome. Was what j would expect a quidditch stadium to look like lol.

Tenn-cool sailgating. Bol navy is a class by itself. Fans were turrible tho. Killz is right about the average size and redneckness (which hey I'm a large guy no judging) but I honestly felt like it was the least intelligent fan base I've been around (or maybe least cultured would be a better term). No offense shafty bc u seem to debunk my stereotype of tenn fans.

Vandy-haven't been
Kentucky-haven't been
Mizzou-obviously haven't been

@Tennessee just twice but both times were fun. Knowlegeable fans and enjoyed discussing the Sec in general. Was treated great.

@Georgia only once. The good fans were great, the bad fans were horrible.

@Auburn. Been 4 times, never much of an issue. They were nice and friendly overall. Never a reason not to go back.

@Alabama. No issues. They love their football and let you know about but no problems ever. Down to earth good people despite what some say. Always enjoy a trip there.

LSU - Best to go at a day game. Twice at night games had issues including some scumbag went after vehicles that had Msu bumper stickers one game. Otherwise good people. Great baseball tailgating there, totally different mindset and they are great fans.

@Ole Miss, fewer problems than you might expect from a rival. Very much like the Georgia fans in that the good fans are awesome and the fewer bad fans are terrible. Otherwise I honestly must confess overall been good road trips.

@Arkansas only twice, can't recall a bad experience.

@Florida, not sure how to put it other than a totally different breed. Can't say bad experience, just different.

Never been to A&M , Mizzou or Vandy.

I lived in Tuscaloosa so I saw the best and the worst of the Gumps. So many fights after the Ole Miss game

Been to many SEC schools, College Station was a bit more rural and boring compared to most. Still fun but not where I'd go to school.

Best experience was UGA.

I've been to most places in the SEC for road games. The people are mostly the same everywhere you go. LSU fans are most likely to yell at you as you walk by, but the worst thing they'll yell is "Tiger bait." A fat MSU fan wearing overalls and a trucker hat called me a redneck. All I could do was laugh. That was really my only two first impressions of the fans. My first impressions are more of the cities and campuses themselves.

Like that really happened. Just happened to be wearing overalls and with a "trucker" and called you a "redneck." Put on your real school hat and come back and talk to me. Liar. At least when you lie make it believable.
