Here's a better scenario. Saban retires. Bama hires Tom Herman quickly. Saban feels slighted because he expected a longer mourning period in Tuscaloosa.
Wrath of Saban: LSU fires Miles and brings Coach Nick Saban back to LSU and beats Herman's Tide 31-3 in their first match up.

Honestly, I think the odds are pretty low that the boosters would want a coach with Herman's style. After the run with Saban, they wouldn't be desperate enough to just grit their teeth and pick him. LSU normally wouldn't, for the same reason Bama wouldn't, but they've gotten a bit more desperate and would take him for the extra chance of success his hiring offers.

Herman is an interesting character. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, raised in California, and spent most of his career in Texas.
Basically, he'll go to a powerhouse in whatever region he wants to live.

Herman at a top program is terrifying. Really really happy UGA got Smart and not Herman. Thats not to say Kirby wont be a good coach or anything and Smart will have success but Herman would have been stupid good at UGA.
