A&M and Texas Tech are bad comparisons. I think that both of you may have really competed in the Big 12 South maybe 1 year each. Now if you mean by becoming Bowl eligible I agree

Thank you for the kind words. Do any Mississippi State or Ole Miss fans have anything to add? I'd like input from all the historically relevant schools before I decide what I should believe.

"We"? What's with that? You sat in the stands, ate nachos with the rest of the sissies in that stadium. Stop referring to your team as "we".

good excuse!

the sad fact is, and I like and support Richt as being one of the "good guys", is he's just not that good of a coach, hell, Gary Pinkel could recruit a top 5 class at Georgia, and he's never sniffed the buttcrack of a class that good, and yet Richt is just getting clowned with all that talent far too often. Much like USCjr, they had a nice run with the Coach, but it's definitely time to think about plan B.

For the most part UGA is similar to LSU in that it's the state flagship school. A$M has to fight several other schools who at anytime can be moving in the right direction in terms of recruiting and winning.

UGA has to fight with GaTech Clemson Auburn Alabama FSU and Tennessee for players. WTH are you talking about?

What is wrong with UGA?

Simply stated, it's the psychology of the team: FEAR.

Fear of failure, fear of losing. Fear of being outed AGAIN as posers. Horror, terror, scared, spooked...pick a word, it's what keeps UGA down.

The first thing Saban did to over-haul LSU was to change the team psych...and upgrade the shite out of our facilities...

It took him one season to do the same at Bama.

Look at the tangibles surrounding UGA and compare them with Bama and LSU for example:

The talent is there, year in and year out. UGA has depth. UGA has fertile recruiting ground. Great facilities. Deep pockets. It has everything one would need for a perpetual play-off worthy program year after year.

The key ingredient is missing...and it's an intangible: the team psychology. UGA got gutted by Bama early and folded immediately. Yesterday, the fear of blowing a 21-point lead led to a self-fulfilling prophecy. All the black shirts and barking and false bravado can't hide the FEAR that pervades that locker room...and whether he's aware of it or not, it's source is Mark Rict...and to a lesser extent, the fan base.

The responsibility of having a team believe and think like winners is no easy burden to bear, but without it, UGA is what you get, and will continue to have. If a head coach can't do that, then all his recruiting and Xs and Os are worthless.

And its the same FEAR that keeps MR as head coach.

At some point, someone will say, "Hey, it may be worth a few re-building seasons to have the team we should have at UGA...let's make a change."

It's scary, sure. But wouldn't you rather be a little nervous sometimes than scared and disappointed all the time?

Time will tell but I think it's early to make that call. We've been playing an obscene amount of freshmen on defense. Depth will be there next year and the following year. I think then it will be a good time to judge.
