Again, we have an AUBURN fan taking up for Kirby. Of course he wants him to stay. The last 2 years Gus has set Iron Bowl records against Alabama.

Hell, I'd take Kirby as a HC at LSU

Who is taking up for Kirby? I am laughing at the fact you aren't including Saban in your comments and the fact it is his system. Why does he get a pass in all of this?

This is accurate. And while he has been largely successful, you have seen bama defense struggle when a team shows them a little something different than typical.

Would be hard to justify firing him especially considering the team's success and his history of success. I would say bama overachieved based on my preseason predictions. However, Smart has shown unwillingness or inability to change and adapt. I think this will continue to be exposed in the future.

It sort of reminds me Muschamp stubbornly and publicly sticking with Driskel and flushing his job down the drain.

Why not just teabag him and call it a day?

I'm still waiting for him to link it and he doesn't seem to know how to do it or there is no link.

Wait, I thought this was Nick Saban's defense? Doesn't he coach defensive backs? Isn't that his "specialty" on the defensive side of the ball? Is Kirby Smart just the scapegoat now?

Teams are just smarter now. They know Alabama is stout up the middle, but slow on the edges. They know they are susceptible to the deep ball and that the defensive backs are overrated. They know the HUNH advantage hurts the defense.

Bama doesn't have a QB left on their roster as good as Driskel.

I'm pretty sure it's Kirby calling the same lame blitz and getting torched on every 3rd down ever. If Saban is telling him to do this, they both need to check themselves. They are arrogant and stubborn about their scheme and it cost them last night. ,

Exactly. Kirby is calling the defensive plays and adjustments on the field. Why in the %#$$ would you leave EJ on an island?? You don't have DK anymore.

This pretty much sums it up, IMO.

Bro, Saban gets tons of credit when that defense is stellar and now that it has had issues it becomes all Kirby. Now I give you credit for adding Saban in there, but all I have heard for 7 years is how Saban runs everything and he coaches the DB's.
He should have equal blame at the least if not he majority at the most.

No one on this board is going to believe it when you all start pointing fingers at Kirby. Now that doesn't mean Saban shouldn't consider a change, as it might be what is needed to help improve some things. However, Saban deserves to be under your fans microscope for the defensive issues.

Alabama should never lose a game with the talent they have at all positions. The quality and depth isn't close to anyone. Kige could win 13 games with that roster.

I'm pointing fingers at the entire defensive staff, starting with the head coach and DC. They have been stubbornly running the exact same scheme since 2007. It was very successful for many years, but it is stale, and doesn't work without the right players. They don't adjust to their players or to other teams game plans. It is what it is. Saban gets the praise from me, and he can take blame, too. He's not perfect.

Sounds like a couple of dipshits and several rational fans posting on a stupid topic by one of the dipshits.

And how is this different than 90% of the threads on this board?

I don't have an answer for fundamental issues that continue to be an issue. While the defense has struggled with pace, that was not the issue last night. A low percentage deep pass should not be competed with regularity. Our inability to defend the boundary has opened things up in the running game for opposing offenses. The leak became a river last night. I have no doubt it will be fixed by Smart and Saban, but two full seasons of it has become frustrating. I'll be interested to see if it's a schematic adjustment or a talent adjustment.

Fair enough JT

Btw I believe they did make some effort to add depth to rotate more on the DL
