Calipari to Arkansas feels like Jordan to the wizards, oj to 49ers, fat George Foreman fighting. All legends but past their prime hoping for a new start and signed as a draw. Calipari still knows basketball but have questions about his age and demands in the NIL/portal era. It will interesting and make for some good off season discussion.

It really doesn't matter. What matters is how much you have to literally BUY players.

Feels like Jimmy Dugan from a league of their own. Jimmy you are a still a big draw, go out there and wave your little hat. 10 years ago this would have been a fantastic hire. A little long in the tooth now so you wonder about his energy and motivation. We shall see soon enough.

It could be much worse.

Arkansas had hired the likes of Stan Heath and John Pelphrey.

Agreed. They were not good. Todays environment it’s such a fine line between coaching and NIL/portal. Where do you spend your energy and how much energy do you have to give.

I’m just glad to see someone step up and take charge and try to do something to make our program more competitive.

The potential for recruiting couldn’t be ignored and the publicity we’ll receive is priceless. It’s important that the younger players coming up know we exist and cal will bring that.

But a big thank you to Muss for reenergizing the program. Great job.

Arkansas has anchored the basketball program and the administration didn't really appreciate what Nolan did for them.

I have posted this before but Houston mediocre Nutt made more money than Nolan which pissed him off in his book 40 minutes of hell the Nolan Richardson story.

You have to know what your priorities are and where they stand.

Arkansas had success in football during the 60s-80s which overshadowed anything they did in basketball until the 90s.

When Nolan won the title in 94, that challenged the old football minded guard that Arkansas was becoming a basketball school. I would imagine Frank Broyles and many in the administration didn't like the idea that football was taking a backseat to basketball.

But things have changed, Broyles and the old guard are long gone and for the first time, the basketball coach is making more money than the football coach which shows that the for the first time, Arkansas is prioritizing basketball over football. That would never have been so with Broyles and the old guard.
