14 team Single elimination. Gives some rest to bullpens. Allows everyone in.

Monday

8 plays 9
4 plays 13
5 plays 12

Tuesday

3 plays 14
6 plays 11
7 plays 10

Thursday

1 plays 8/9 Winner (choice of time)
2 plays 7/10 Winner (choice of time)
3rd Quarter
4th Quarter

Friday
Semis- Day/Night Double Header (highest seed picks time they play)

Saturday
Finals 7 pm CDT

Or

8 team 2 Regional Format starting on Wednesday ending on Sunday. The SEC champ can pick if they want the day or night session first game as reward for winning and set schedule accordingly.

I like it because it is a straight single elimination. However, having a co-champ or three way regular season champs could make the "choice of time" part unreasonable.

The current format of single elimination, double elimination, and back to single elimination is confusing at times.

But is it is so much better than pool play like in the ACC.

No. I'm a bama fan and we didn't deserve to play in a tournament at the end of the year. Bad teams shouldn't be rewarded with automatic entry.

No, because 13 and 14th team, much less 11 and 12th would never win. Like...ever.

I'd support getting rid of conference tournaments in every sport.

I think it should be an 8-team tournament, broken into two 4-team divisions. Double elim to get to the championship game, then one game to win it all. Or, to put it more succinctly, the pre-2001 CWS format.

I think they should just go back to the old format they had pre-expansion and have a straight double elimination tournament except for the championship game. Only caveat would be instead of having 8 teams, 10 teams would make it, and the division champs would get 1st round byes. The 2012 format was pretty close.

There is no need for every team to make it, nor is there a need to have all but 2 make it. I don't even see the point in that. Additionally, the current format is ridiculous: single elimination in round 1, double in the next round, then back to single for the semis.

I would say just bring it down to 8 teams, but that has burned some teams (us) in the past with not getting an invite to the NCAAT because they didn't qualify for the SECT.

This I am 100% on board with the 2012 SEC Tournament Format. It was the best format for expansion. But they only used it one year. Look it up.

I really like the old 6 team regional format the best. The reason I gave the top 2 seeds the choice of times (1 seed getting first priority) is reward for winning the conference.

yep, the only difference I would change is the semi-final being single elimination like it was in 2012. I would add an if necessary game and keep it at double-elimination. It's actually more helpful for teams who make the CWS because it would be the same format Omaha uses to get the the championship game. Would help coaches manage their pitching staffs for that setup.

Make it exactly like the basketball tournament without 13 and 14 making it.

Even Tuesday is too early to start it IMO; starting on a Monday with potential playoff implications during the final regular season (conference play) weekend is a terrible idea.

I think the SEC should do away with it and instead play reruns of Baywatch during the time slot.

Nope. No single elim. No picking times.

Why do you not like letting the Conference top seed to pick the time they want to play their opening game? Generally they let them play as early as possible to get the most rest. I believe in the past they have allowed the winner to pick the time they play also.

Do two 6 team regional formats- one at Hoover and the other rotates between various minor league parks in the footprint.

Teams seeded 1,3,5,7,9,11 at one site and teams seeded 2,4,6,8,10,12 at the other.

that should be a rule with all conference tournaments limited to 8 teams... 13 SEC teams getting in for softball is BS

Wouldn't you want the teams split like this in 2 6 team formats?

Game 1: 1 vs 12
Game 2: 4 vs 9
Game 3: 5 vs 8

Game 1: 2 vs 11
Game 2: 3 vs 10
Game 3: 6 vs 7

Second Round would be

Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs Loser Game 3 (Loser Eliminated if 2nd loss)
Game 5: Winner Game 2 vs Winner Game 3
Game 6: Loser Game 2 vs Loser Game 1 (Elimination Game)

Then the if games are dependent on Game 4.

Mainly for the fans. No reason to keep it so fluid.
