Chip Kelly HATES recruiting so hell no.

While he will bring you offense, he won't have a company like nike auto recruiting in the SEC

Just in terms of transition from current philosophy to Chips, Arky might have the biggest transition in the SEC other than LSU. (Bama is not included in this list due to Saban)

Is this real life? Recruiting at Oregon is harder than recruiting in the SEC, even with Nike

ETA:

Here are his recruiting rankings at Oregon

19
34
13
9

He never relied on recruiting rankings. He was interested in getting guys for his system. His lineman were often 2*s, because he wants them to be undersized

Is that the same Nike that's auto-recruiting a 40th place class at Oregon currently?

Oregon had top 15 recruiting classes for the three full cycles that Chip Kelly was there. Outside of that, they have 0 top 15 classes.

What fricking planet are y'all living on trying to say Chip Kelly won't kick arse when he comes back to college. He would dominate at LSU or UT. Hell he might even win at Arkansas or Kentucky.

Kelly would be a good fit for Tenner. I'm about sick of Butch already, he's not even any fun to make fun of anymore.

I disagree.

I'd give a appendage to swap him out for Rumlin at this point, he and his bagmen would kill it in recruiting to the SEC.

Chip, with the big athletes that LSU gets, would be incredible. He didn’t have these kinds of players at Oregon because he couldn’t get them there. Even our dynamic smaller athletes are better than what he had at Oregon. Look at what happens in the NFL.

He said something about that after we beat him in 2011. About how we have these monster sized guys that are still fast. LSU will always have those types of players because of our situation with our state talent and no in state competition.

He would be insanely successful at LSU.

I would not mind but UF fans will have a better idea on coach Mac after the 2017 season. A lot of SEC teams could end up calling him after next season .

Such a bad argument. You think that everyone that recruits well likes to recruit?

He made Oregon a destination. Oregon. If he did that while hating recruiting, why the hell wouldn't you want that guy? Do you people think these things through?

You can hate to do something and still be amazing at it.

Exactly.

You know, there are actually difficult things to figure out, like US foreign policy, the economy. There are real things that are complex and need multifaceted approaches to solve.

This is not one of them. You put someone like Kelly in, that made a school like Oregon relevant, and you give him great athletes, he will thrive. It's like people don't know a good coach when they see it.

22-29 - "let's give him a chance"
46-7 - "No thanks"

Every time I try to get on board with the O hire, people say crap like that and it rips the scab open again.

I think major coaches are looking for a path to the playoff that doesn't include an sec schedule. Kelly will go west.

He beat Stanford in 2010 and 2011.

Loss to auburn was more about the battle in the trenches and not having the same type of 'croots.

In SEC country Chip would have access to better talent and would kill.

Which other fan bases would can their coach for Kelly?

I'm sure there are a few. I'm of the mind that I don't want a guy coaching my college team that doesn't like recruiting. Kelly has said before that he really didn't enjoy that aspect. I think diving into the most hotly contested recruiting area isn't exactly where he'd see a ton of success. I see him looking at an Az State or Cal program out in the Pac12 anyways. So between the lack of interest in recruiting and the likelihood to bolt back to a Pac12 job, not interested. I'm sure there are quite a few though that would bite.

For all of the "he doesn't like to recruit" guys, if he gets the right assistant coaches and right job, he won't have to. Put him at LSU or Florida that recruits itself along with proven assistants that can recruit, he will win
