Kelly beat up on cupcakes in the Pac-12 and was shut down any time he played a count hair decent defense. Dunno where the Kelly hype stems from. If it was giving Auburn a scare in 2010, so did Mississippi State, Kentucky, Clemson, etc.

Kelly like Gus would be great at one of the Kiffin schools (FAU, FIU, etc.) or hell any FCS school. But, other than a fluke season won't cut at a power 5 school.

I do not agree with your line of thinking. Give Kelly some SEC recruiting grounds and a good DC and I think Kelly could absolutely compete in the SEC. Also NFL has no bearing on college coaching. Kelly has already proved IMO that he can coach in college but he just isnt that great in the NFL. Saban wasnt good in the NFL but no way he could well the SEC right?

10-3 Rose bowl loss finished 11th

12-1 national champ game loss. Game was lost on a last second field goal. Finished 3rd

12-2 Rose bowl win. Finished 4th

12-1 fiesta bowl win. Finished 2nd

That were his four years at Oregon. Oregon, not a traditional power

Are retards really trying to downplay his success?

A position for a fired coach who can be hired on the cheap while riding out his buyout money has opened up on the analyst staff at CNS' land of misfit toys.

Wouldn't mind him there but no where near the UA sideline in any capacity.

I think he is a good coach and would be better than average in the SEC. Still even in the SEC's down years, the defenses are still better than than the west coast defenses and I can't help but think his record would not be so good.

So you'd rather have Kiffins dumb arse back on the sidelines calling plays?

As long as he is not distracted, then he is good. Bama's offensive numbers over the last three years speak for themselves. Amazing considering three first year qb's also.

In fairness, Saban had already won a National Championship before he went to the NFL.

Chip Kelly lost a very close national championship game to Auburn. That included a last second field goal, set up by spectacular play by Michael Dyer of keeping his feet under him.

Make no mistake, Chip Kelly will be an absolute force at the college level if he comes back. Just like Saban, Carroll, Harbaugh, Petrino, and Spurrier before him.

Perhaps

i just found it odd that the other poster didn't want him in a coaching role. I definitely get the p12 is not the SEC but CK is damn good offensive coach and offensive mind.

It maybe too early this morning

Yeah, I'm not sure where this invented idea of Kelly not being good in CFB is coming from. Kelly also failed in the NFL because of personnel management, not his system. I don't feel like digging it up, but if I recall correctly, his offense worked well while at Philly.

And please stop with the nonsense of HURR DURR HE COULDN'T SUCCEED IN THE SEC, TOO FAST HURR DURR. If that's your argument, you're forgetting the whole part where if he coached in the SEC, he would be coaching SEC talent.
