USC went 37-2 from 2003 to 2005

Here are their results vs Top 10 teams during that team

@ #6 Auburn - W 23-0
vs #6 Wazzu - W 43-16
vs #4 Michigan - W 28-14
vs #7 Cal - W 23-17
vs #2 Oklahoma - W 55-19
@ #9 Notre Dame - W 34-31
vs #2 Texas - L 41-38

Their losses were to #1 Texas by 3, @ Cal by 3 in 3 OTs and

Boy, they sucked. Totally overrated!

Should be noted that from 2002 to 2005, USC was held to 24 or fewer points only 3 times. Auburn did that in both games even though they started Daniel Cobb at QB in 2002 (lost in final minutes 24-17) and had Steve Ensminger calling plays in 2003. A 2004 matchup would have ended up 27-24 type game IMO.

Shut up troll.

Marcus McNeil, Ben Grubbs & Jay Ratliff. That's 3 more Pro Bowlers than USC had on their lines. Plus another NFL starting LT in King Dunlap. Pat Sims, Quentin Groves, and Tyronne Greene all started in the NFL too.

You don't remember one single player USC had on either side of their lines.

ETA: come with an legitimate sounding argument that USC was even in the same league as 04 Auburn in the trenches and say it with a straight face.

I'll wait

this same Auburn team that lost to Reggie Ball led GT the following week?

you really want to make the argument that they were a top 10 team?

IIRC Auburn got shut out by USC at home the year before. That 2004 USC team was even better and while its not fair to say 04 Auburn couldnt have beaten USC, you can at least reasonably say 04 was a more talented team with a better coach and would have been a significant favorite

Not to mention the fact that 04 Auburn refused to play an AQ OOC team.

USC > Auburn all day in 2004

Auburn went 0-2 against USC just two seasons prior to the 2004 year. They were shut out in their home stadium 23-0 by USC the year prior to 2004.

USC dominated a highly respected and undefeated Oklahoma team. Complete domination. Auburn struggled against the ACC Champion, who USC beat more convincingly during the regular season as an OOC opponent. Auburn scheduled powerhouses Louisiana-Monroe, The Citadel, and La Tech for their OOC games. USC also had Notre Dame as an OOC opponent.

If I recall correctly, Va Tech’s fullback dropped a lay up pass in the end zone that would have given them the lead. I’m not 100% on that but I’m highly confident that was the case.

Auburn 2004 was good, but objectively USC was better. USC beating Auburn twice two years prior is more relevant than how each team’s players performed in the NFL.

Tatoo is an idiot.

Now that that is out of the way...

2003 AU was blown out by UGA in Auburn. 2004 AU blew out UGA in Athens. 37 point swing in that game. 25 point swing vs Piss. 25 point swing vs LSU. 17 vs Tenn. 12 vs Arky. We lost to Geogia Tech by 2 TDs in 2003.

The difference between 2003 AU and 2004 was HUGE. You are talk 2-5 touchdown improvements vs almost every conference opponent. And even against bama who we beat up on both years, we won in 2003 by 3 then were up 15 until the last play of the game, a long garbage pass against our backups.

I guarantee 2004 USC did not have results in the same universe. Hell, they were probably better in 2003. Looking at their 2003 vs 2004 results, they had several more close games in 2004 and their 2004 margin of victory was much less than in 2003.

We already know AU had more talent in 2004 than USC. We also know AU was superior on the offensive and defensive line of scrimmage.

Frankly, I think we win by 2 TDs. We slept walked through VT and still led 16-0 midway through the 4th quarter. If we had gotten to play USC we would have actually been motivated.

I see a game vs USC as AU getting up about 21-10 by halftime, with a final of 31-20.

Lol. Vatech never had the ball with a chance to take the lead the entire second half.

Unless you are talking VaTech vs USC. In that case, VaTech was about to beat USC when Vatech fumbled a punt which allowed USC to win the game essentially.

USC had two first team all Americans on their D line, one of them was Pac 10 defensive player of the year.

they had a Freshan first team all American on the o line.

that 2004 USC team has been named best team of that decade by multiple publications.

too say Auburn blows them away on both sides is false.

not a troll at all.

I'm not saying 2004 Auburn is shitty, but 2004 USC is a legendary team, some say one of the best ever.

No...no...and NO!...because it was Auburn, and no one likes Auburn, no one wants to see “more” of Auburn, so no, Auburb wouldn’t have gotten in in 2004, and even an undefeated Barn would have been passed over in favor of UCF last year. Just accept it....NO MORE BARN.. is a national slogan.

In other words, frick Auburn, and frick their fantasies, delusions, and their whole “fambly” including their snaggle-toothed female cousins.

for the first time.......ever.....I agree with Jacknola.

That’s what I was referring to. Looks like my memory served me right. USC was better.

Auburn would have lost to Utah and USC would have beaten OU and played Utah in the NCG.

Wrong board. There are too many haters to get an unbiased answer to anything related to Auburn.

All PR...cause there isn't a single shred of data to support that assertion.
