Not quite.

What the deal was is we traded Texas eyeballs and Texas viewers for the SEC's reputation and immediate financial advantages.

By the way, Texas eclipsed A&M's "$740 million in donations" bullshite by $100 million this past fiscal year.

First yall get a black coach because we did, then yall pay him $5 million because we did, and now yall have to raise more money than we did.

I am expecting to hear the announcement of the DKR expansion any day now....

I actually got accepted, but there was no real way to afford to go. Even in the mid 90s, it was absurdly expensive.

texashorn,

I don't know anything about those donations. I just want to thank you for your interest in the SEC and A&M football. Thanks, and God bless.

Texas. World Capitol of the false sense of superiority. They don't even realize that the rest of us just point and laugh.

My father currently lives in Dallas with his girlfriend.

I like parts of the state. When I was living in Oklahoma for a year I drove down a few times, went through Waco to get there. Loved Waco - I could've lived without Dallas though. Traffic and heat just reminded me of the crappy aspects of living in Atlanta.

I get that not all of Texas is Dallas-Fort Worth, yes. I visited Houston many years ago and marched with my high school in the city's Thanksgiving Day parade. Town seemed decent enough, but didn't get to see a lot of it.

Honestly, I don't see a lot of specific appeal. Like any other state, it has some nice parts and crappy parts. Personally, I think Virginia is much nicer (except the DC area).

It isn't a life raft though. That makes it sound like charity.

When every SEC team makes as much as OU (or maybe Texas) does next year (even the MSU's and Vandy's) thanks to Texas eyeballs it means that the SEC expansion wasn't an act of charity.

Quite simply, the smartest guys in college football (aka the guys who won seven national titles) saw a way to steal Texas's eyeballs in order to monetize their product better. They are getting something big out of it, and we are along for the ride- like getting your friends to kick your bully's arse for you.

If Texas had good beaches, good mountains, decent human beings or a good climate it could be heaven.

Grades wasn't my issue in getting into any school, it was "how can I afford it if I don't get a full scholarship". I was accepted at Tufts University. It's not easy getting into that school either.

Yep, Powers openly weeping on tv when the accountants told him the donors were 40% short of his goal had an impact. We would give more if our president cried like a baby on tv too

There are some nice beaches, and the highest mountains in the US east of the Rockies are in Texas, but you've got to drive a long way to get to them. The climate is fine (for people who aren't fricking pussies), and the people living here are great (for people who aren't fricking racists).
