I think this is a make or break year for Les. If he fails to win the west, the school can either accept a good but not great coach and coming in second or third for the rest of his term or roll the dice. LSU is as talented as anyone in the country so no more excuses.

If he ends up with another middle of the road team I can understand why some LSU fans might want him gone. They believe that with the program that has been built and the talent they are able to attract, they need to win the West sometimes. Right now I think they feel like Miles is losing ground to Alabama and is even getting outdone by some of the other Western teams. I don't think it is personal but I don't think they want to wait until the team sinks to the bottom of the West before they get a coach who seems to understand the environment that the SEC is today.
Course, if he wins big this year all is forgiven.

Nothing really changes in the off season? Are you blind or just ignorant?

No, because LSU has the talent to compete without even great coaching. Imagine an actual HC who has a niche.. say defensively or with quarterbacks play.
LSU is established now.. most good coaches would have at worse similar success. this isn't the LSU of the 90's or before.. there weren't established then.
I use to be very afraid of losing Miles and an the idea of a new coach scared me.. but not so much any more. Not after how stubborn Miles can be..
I believe LSU would accomplish similar results with a decent coach.. and the sky would be the limit.

This whole Mantra that LSU is as talented as anybody is not true. Is LSU very talented? Yes they are. More talented than most. But they are not as talented as Alabama. Neither is anyone else. And the gap in talent between Alabama and LSU is larger than the Gap in talent between LSU and whoever is behind them in talent.

I hear you. I am saying that LSU fans I know don't expect to beat Bama every year, but they do expect to get their chances and see Miles take advantage of them. Maybe this year is that year.

This is the kind of shite that pisses me off. One minute all the fans of other teams scream about how firing Miles would be a stupid move. The next minute they are screaming about how he runs an antiquated offense and how LSU is on a decline... You frickers can't have it both ways. Either he is one of the top coaches in CFB or he is not that good and is holding LSU back because it damn sure ain't a talent issue with recruits.
Nicely stated...Les has underproduced in an era of Louisiana high school talent rivaling any other state in the county. His unwillingness to put games away through ultra conservative tactics has caused numerous 4th quarter losses and near losses during his entire career. Without a huge amount of luck, he would have lost the championship opportunity in 2007 for the same reason.
Bottom line is Les Miles is a good football coach through his ability to lock up Louisiana talent and beat most inferior opponents even though his coaching philosophy plays down to their level, but he is not an elite coach.

No team competes on a regular basis on talent alone....and no team competes on a regular basis on coaching alone.

Choc is a bigger Les fan than LSU. Not surprising he found this thread.

A "middle of the road" LSU team would be considered a GOAT team at Ole Mi$$.

They'll prob grab up Belichick or Urban when he get's canned.
It's really frustrating how illogical our fan base is. I think a lot of them suffer from short term memory loss, and can't see the success Miles has had over the long term.
I've said this before but I'll post it again:
The LSU "fans" if you will, are like barack obama supporters circa 2008. They all want hope and change, but even after they get their hope and change (let's assume Les is not with LSU after this year and things take a turn for the worse) they will still blame Les Miles for anything that's negative for years to come.
I can only assume they're either a product of this generation that demands instant gratification, or they can't comprehend that Saban is one of/if not the best coach in the history of college football and to try and fire a top 5 college football coach in Les Miles and hire a better one is extremely slim to impossible.

Keep speaking in circles, you may get back to reality eventually. When Miles can not play down to competition, he is completely in over his head. Therefore, if a team has near equal talent and a head coach with a tactical advantage (most of the SEC), he will lose at a very high frequency.

So how mad are you going to be when Les and LSU has a ton of success this year?
Let me guess what you'll say - "with all that talent anybody can win games"
