Muschamps to South Carolina and Orgeron to LSU are up there.... but this one may be even worse. Is the AU AD even awar this guy has been a HC before?

It’s not the AD Auburn has way to many chefs. Plus they are on different wave links. One group wants a other group wants b. This will be a bad hire.,

I'd still argue that O was a worse hire on paper. To my knowledge, Steele hasn't catastrophically failed as a HC anywhere before.

I laughed when Auburn hired Steele as a DC but was wrong.
I laughed when LSU hired Orgeron was but I was wrong.

I'll probably laugh when Auburn hires Steele as a HC but I could be wrong.

We're talking about Auburn here. A cow college. Little bro to Big Bad Bama. They'll hire Steele and they'll like it.

Steele was the head coach at Baylor University from 1999 to 2002. His record was 9–36 (1–31 in the Big 12 conference).

I think he had a winless season not 100% sure.

So 8-5 OOC. Auburn just needs to avoid scheduling Big 12 teams and he's a cheaper Gus.

I just went to their board and I’d like explanation on this quote from an article:

quote:

come to the conclusion that Auburn is a Florida that thinks it’s a Mississippi, acts like an Arkansas and is in danger of becoming a Tennessee.

Is the Arkansas part referring to an aloof perhaps minor superiority complex or the opposite? I won’t be mad either way I just want to know.

Chizik was pretty bad. Also, Kiffin to the Raiders, but that's NFL.

His conference record at Baylor was 1-31.

In year four, in his opening game, he lost 70-22 to a team that had been 1-10 the year before.

That's right. Year 4.

And this is the guy being considered at Auburn.

Dooley had a losing record when Tennessee hired him.

Why not just hang on to Steele as DC. Keep Gus & your recruiting class, fire Morris, tell Gus he is CEO only, spend some of the $20M you wasted firing Gus on the best assistants money could buy.

Oh. And tell Gus no headset. He can know what play is coming when the fans do.

I honestly believe this would be far superior to promoting a coach and paying his old boss $20M to go away. And shite the bed in recruiting.

In one year before coming to Tennessee, Derek Dooley won 8 games.

Kevin Steele won 9 games...in 4 years.

I remember Arizona State being universally panned for hiring Herm Edwards while Arizona was being praised for hiring Kevin Sumlin.

I don't know who looks better or worse on paper between Herm and Steele. Herm certainly looks better now than he did when he was hired, though.

Funniest thing I've read in this whole saga.

Herm was likely panned because he had been out of coaching for 10 years. He made the NFL playoffs four times.

He beat the shite out of Arizona; his three year records are 7-6, 8-5, 1-2.

You're not going to find a worse coach on paper than a 1-31 conference record.

Steele, Chizik, Orgeron, John L Smith.

Take your pick.
