Why are you Gaslighting the SECrant? I feel like I'm the crazy one after reading your thread...

Why does USC jump VT in this scenario?

they may not have, I was just speaking from a fan entertainment standpoint since those were some of the hottest teams in the country at that point.

Playing devil's advocate though...both teams won their league. USC lost by 1 in october to standford and by 7 to oregon. VT got obliterated by LSU in september and by 4 to BC in october. Who knows what the hypothetical committee would have done in this case.

the 2 losses to Arkansas and Kentucky were pretty ugly...What's your opinion?

They weren't "ugly", they were very competitive, exciting, overtime losses.

Sorry you don't like football.

That year, yes. There were no P5 Undefeated teams. I take issue about the ugly loss though. Both were in overtime and as it applies to Kentucky, I believe that Kentucky was a Top 10 team that year with really good receivers like Dicky Lyons, Jr.

The loss to Arky was ugly. Arky was a .500 team and the game was at Tiger Stadium

That Arky game was a slugfest.

Not a damn thing ugly about it at all. McFadden was a man possessed and it was a well-deserved victory.

So was Alabama in 2011. Glad the BCS got it right.

I think the term "ugly" losses is a bit harsh. LSU was the #1 ranked team in the land for many weeks. The teams that beat them (both in OT) were decent teams and both had NFL-caliber players (especially Ark). Better question would be more appropriate: Would 2016 season NCAA champ Clemson have made playoff IF they would have lost to NC State. Ponder that?

That's an easy question to answer. If Clemson lost to N.C. State and Pittsburgh, either Louisville or Virginia Tech wins the ACC.

A better thread would have been:
Would have 2006 LSU made it into the playoffs?

They finished 8-5 that year with a losing record in conference play.

Playoffs would have been:

1. Ohio State
2. LSU
3. Oklahoma
4. Georgia

My only concern would be that we didn't win the SEC so we may get "punished" for that, although we've seen before that's not necessarily a requirement. But there is no doubt in my mind there were not 4 teams better than us at that time.

This is similar to Penn State's résumé and they got left out largely because their loss to Michigan was an asswhipping.

I think the less trolly version of the question is "Does Georgia make the playoffs in 2007?"

UGA fans will get upset, but there's a legit argument. Hell, they didn't even finish in the top 4 of the final BCS poll.
