My fondest memory of the U is when LSU beat them down on the field and they followed the team into the tunnel and got another beat down.

Even though we are the poster child of dumpster fires at this moment, the job at TAMU is way more of a destination job than Miami. Not even sure you can call the Miami head coach position a destination job right now.

Let's see if I have this right. College Station or Miami? Hmmmm.

Let's compare, shall we?

Miami: beaches, incredible night life, major sports, beautiful ocean sunrises, Florida Keys an hour away, great boating, fishing, incredible international restaurants.

College Station: two hours from anything, flat scrub land, ugly campus, best thing about it was a campfire and now that's gone.

Yep. You're right. Destination. That is....

... If you're a fly looking for sheep shite.

Yeah, I could not imagine the traffic of a 60,000 seat stadium in that area. I work next door in Brickell. It takes me 15-25 minutes to go about 1000 yards from the office to the interstate. One evening it took me 53 minutes to travel that 1000 yards.

And currently there are 18,100 additional condos either under construction or planned. Even with the rail an trolley system in brickell now it isn't sustainable and some businesses are looking elsewhere as the entire area is getting absurd. There is an 85 story tower under construction as well. Going to turn into a minny NY skyline with the heights of the current projects.

An enterprising architect could design a 60,000 seat stadium in the middle of a bunch of condos, with the stadium elevated above the parking garage.

Seems doubtful, but you are talking like 50 million an acre just for the land.

And land prices are going up, up, up. Recent eye-popping sales include $125 million for the 1.25-acre Epic Marina sitelast July and $80 million for 2.05 bayfront acres at 300 Biscayne Boulevard in December.

I know its not cheap. We had a place a few blocks north of Briny Breezes (Boynton Beach) one block off the ocean with dedicated beach access. Purchased it in 2003 for $780k and sold it in 2006 for $1.2 million. I can't imagine what it's like, now. Gotta be through the roof.

Yeah, won't be an on campus stadium. No funding, but even more so, there is absolutely no where to build in the Gables. Real estate is through the roof there. Astronomical and no way in hell a stadium could get built on that small campus surrounded by some of the most expensive real estate in the U.S.

What did they do with the land where the original Orange Bowl used to be? I know Miami's current administration is a major problem for their football program's success but I think it would be so awesome if they rebuilt an exact but modern replica of the Orange Bowl. The Canes playing at that dump 20 miles off campus is a travesty.

Holy H. Christ this is one of fricking dumbest threads ever. Does anyone know anything about Economics # 101 ???? There is NO money. Hello.

Butch Davis? Isnt he 63 yrs old? Even if he is 57 yrs old, thats a bandaid....he is not going to have the energy to rebuild a program...especially one with no money. Its not just the stadium....although thats huge...its the facilities themselves that are shite...they are now 15 yrs behind 75% of FBS schools.

I think a stadium could be built close by...theres that baseball park that is scheduled to be built/renovated and it could provide site for most games, like a 40,000 seat type facility and then when they play a girls school or Neuter Dame or some such they would have to play in Miami Lakes...a hike of course....but least the marquee teams would bring their own fans.

They need to locate a up and comer that isnt going require a big price tag. To even suggest Sumlin is laughable...he makes much more than what they could pay. Butch Davis just does a few radio shows and of course he would be doable price wise because he needs the $$ but he could never rebuild them. Think 38-48 yrs old with a lot of energy and the only bad part is if you dont sign a long term deal...he might bolt if he is successful or if he is a failure...you have long term deal that is payable....kinda of catch 22 situation.

Our AD Jeremy Foley is one of the best in the business and he had Zook as a hire, then Urban , then Muschamp and now McElwain. The brilliant strategy of hiring McElwain was realizing he was what UF needed and believing it enough to pay off the long term buyout clause of which McElwain also pitched in some. UF also had Muschamps contract to eat (before anyone starts...no, there was no clause to only pay him for difference in AU money and UF salary...he gets both in full)....thank God we had the $$$. I am assuming Golden will have to be paid for the balance of his contract and UM cant afford it + pay top dollar for new coach. Expect a back loaded contract.

It will be no mystery to coaches who are seeking jobs what UM is able to pay...their agents will be finding out what the lay of the land is way before anyone is interviewed.

I think the ex OC at Northern Illinois is a possible prospect...he is now OC in Big Ten (trying to remember his name and schools name)....but no real southern experience (hell...UM isnt southern anyway). Is this something a big name asst coach at a top school would even consider? Doubtful...they could wait on bigger fish. We havent seen the last coaching change yet and expect merry go round at years end.

Miami should hire him:
He is available. Miami needs someone they don't need to buy out. Miami needs someone who can coach and who can recruit. He can do both. He is a proven coach and he did well there before.

But, he left Miami before. you don't divorce and get remarried to the same person again. There is bad blood there. He is also just another has been coach having been out of coaching for quite a while now. Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, or Butch Davis. All has beens.

I think only a handful of coaches can turn that program around, and Butch is one of them.
