Probably because you don't like fun
I had fun in Athens, but you damn bulldogs didn't take to my hitting the bars downtown after AU won carrying around a big hedge piece with me.

Gel heads? I think you have us confused with Florida, and that, sir, is crossing the line.

Did metro Atlanta cease to be the feeding area for UGA? Didn't think so. UGA is a shell of what it used to be. Place will be Rutgers in a decade.

In all seriousness, there are only three fan bases that I often hear about having bad experiences in Athens: GT, Auburn, and USCe. GT hates everything about us so I get that. Auburn and USCe, I don't really get. I guess Athens was pretty hostile toward AU in 2011, but other than that, I don't understand the frequency of bad experiences. I'm forced to conclude that some AU and USCe fans do not like fun.

i mean no disrespect to auburn. i sat right below where they let the eagle go before the game, and it was one of the coolest things i've ever seen..

In truth, the only thing I disliked about UGA is the shite talking. Not that I'm especially sensitive to it, I just hate being a situation where I might get drawn into a fight. Unlike dumb townies and some students, I've got crap to lose and can't afford getting arrested. From 2008-2011 or so it was to the point that I really didn't want to have a significant other in Athens because I didn't want to have to defend someone. It does seem to have mellowed some now.
Surprisingly, you'd think that'd be more of a problem in LSU, but in LSU I've had a lot of shite talking sessions with no real problems. Just sort of a way of life there, not abnormal at all.

honk if you sacked Brodie... I've been to auburn countless times and this was unbearable. I almost updyked y'all that night by torching the tp/your trees. i like auburn too, the year before I stayed in auburn for 2.5 weeks while avoiding 3 hurricanes hitting Florida. this wasn't my first ib or ib loss

It does rub some the wrong way for sure. The way you have to think about it is that it's all in fun. People won't keep talking shite unless they think it bothers you. You just have to have fun with it. Obviously there are some people who are just intolerable assholes, but all fanbases have those.
Not specific to you, but some opposing fans are really bothered by the barking for some reason. It's no different than then tiger-baiting at LSU. Just laugh it off.

I actually think this is part of why LSU and UGA tend to get along pretty well on gameday. Both are very accustomed to shite talking.

Little Rock, but that's not exactly fair to Arkansas.
UGA, Bama, and Ole Miss are all incredibly trips, but my two trips to Auburn were probably the best.
The game in 12 might have been my favorite trip ever.

Why Ed does this mean we're not friends anymore? You know Ed if I thought you weren't my friend, I just don't think I could bear it

I've been to Bama, Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Vandy, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. My worst game day experience was at MSU, followed by Ole Miss.

AU by far is the "worst" experience in the S.E.C. on game day! Those corn-dog hating Aubies can be flat rude!

Baylor
comically bad...literally a dirt parking lot surrounding the stadium is "tailgating"
Of SEC road games i've made so far...I'd rank it Tuscaloosa, Oxford, Fayetteville...although none were bad by any means

I had a blast at Auburn in 2003
Most fun I've ever had on a road trip was Auburn 1992. I was 17 and hungover after an all night drive with 14 people crammed into a "borrowed" van. We got great seats in the corner of the endzone for the JP game of the week. Jamie Howard led an amazing 4th quarter comeback in relief of whoever our terrible starter was (Chad Loup?). Still lost on a last second field goal but it was my first road trip as a student and loved every minute of it (save the loss).
Sadly, I've never been back to the Plains for a game. I vaguely remember an eagle named Tiger in a giant bird cage outside the stadium.

I thought Texas A&M was kind of weird, everyone was really nice but they were a bit odd. Really enjoyed the Auburn fans I met

No, had nothing to do with me and everything to do with your fans. Nothing to do with Athens the town or night scene.
