SO Alabama returns nearly everyone next yr and the defense will be lights out but LEs has to win the west to keep his job? That seems a bit harsh; he is t going against a Shula led Alabama or Croom led MS ST. I think both teams will be better next yr. If Cam goes pro and Auburn with an entire new OL I expect them to struggle a little but they won't be bad. The sec west is too hard to navigate right now no matter how good you are.

I have a serious question. When the time comes for Les Miles to leave Baton Rouge, how will he be able to tell?

Before Saban, when was the last time LSU won the west?

Explain to me why the answer to this question matters.

it doesnt matter. people that point to the past are fricking stupid. so much has changed since then that 4 years at LSU without a west title is to fricking long.

also the 90s were clearly our worst decade ever as a program so the time is a bit skewed if you like retarded shite like using the past as what should be present day makers for a program.

Because you act like LSU should be a consistent power. Outside of the Saban/post Saban years at LSU, LSU hasn't been consistent enough for many to view them as an annual power.

Expectations are a lot different than they were in 1999. I know Alabama fans want us to just be happy with going 9-3 because that would have been a good year for us in 1998 but that's not going to happen. How LSU fans view themselves has been altered for at least the next 30-40 years.

Also, you're prism is skewed by the 90's. You think that's all LSU was before Saban. I assure you it wasn't.

You ever think the SEC West was just terrible in LSU's reign?

Alabama-struggling with sanctions and Shula.
Arkansas-good every few years, but never a real threat.
Auburn-legit.
Ole Miss-Coach O
Mississippi State-Croom

Now?

Alabama-Saban
Arkansas-Petrino and Mallet
Auburn-Gus, Chiz, and Cam Newton
Ole Miss-blah
Mississippi State-an up and comer in Mullen

Congratulations, you're no longer just an Alabama fan, you're a gump. You can no longer be counted on to have a normal conversation.

Solid response. Did I not state clear fact? Care to respond or will you concede that the SEC west is tougher and stronger now than it was when LSU was on top?

It's tougher for US, sure.

Is it tougher overall? No.

If you expect us to just give up on being a consistent championship contender and go back to the days where we were happy with 9-3, you're in for some serious fricking disappointment.

An Alabama fan should understand better than anyone how winning championships changes a program, how it views itself, and what it expects for itself. But you're a gump so I doubt you have the ability to see outside your own exceedingly narrow and homerish view.

yea i agree its not worth arguing with bama fans.

its clear that the 90s being a horrible shite decade skews shite but they can't see it.

id still like to know what the frick the past has to do with current expectations.

What is homerish about saying it's harder for LSU to compete now that the SEC is tougher? The lack of signature wins and dissatisfaction with Miles' results (are lack thereof) seems to support my belief.
