Since SEC expansion there have been 22 teams win the SEC championship and only half that many SEC teams have won the National Championship (still ave VERY impressive percentage).
Recently though, it seems tougher. SEC Camp games have been closer than the NC's with SEC teams dominating.

Every single year, a team has made the NC without winning the SEC, and some of those teams have won.
haha, excellent. Hopefully folks don't take you seriously on this. I think it's a good one.

Florida State could very well win the National Championship
They have certain odds.
This same Florida State team would have much worse odds of winning the SEC
Ergo, the winning the SEC is more difficult

This is an impossible statement. It's like saying the Pacific Ocean is wetter than the Atlantic Ocean.

genro, I believe in the past this has been true. I am unsure it will hold water this season, but I guess we will find out in a few weeks

And it's been that way for a while now.

I failed logic in college, but I think Mizzou would have had an easier time winning the National Championship this year if they were still in The Big 12 than they would have had winning The SEC....you have several gimmes in a B12 schedule and a couple of hard games, whereas in The SEC it's the opposite, and that's true even coming out of The East this year.

agree.
But I also think our SEC schedule prepares us to beat that arse in the NC game.

If FSU were in the SEC, they'd have much lower odds of just making it to the national championship, let alone win it..
This is kinda a funky question .
I wonder if the playoff committee would be willing to take two SEC schools? If so, winning the NC may be easier after all...

Our killer is the playoff, for the playoff! The SEC Championship game will knock 1 of the top 2 SEC teams out of the playoffs every year. This will leave a potential opening for the next highest ranked SEC team to slip in the backdoor of the playoffs if ranked high enough.

Yeah, especially if 2 teams from the same division dominate the conference like in 2011. I just wonder how much resistance there will be from the committee to take that 2nd team...

Well lately (other than Bama '11) doing the first appears to be an automatic win in the NC, so yeah.
I think folks expecting the 4-team playoff to make it easier for an SEC team to get in are fooling themselves, though. Unless the rest of the country just completely sucks I can't see 2 SEC teams getting in to the 4. This year, for example, it would be FSU, Auburn, Michigan State, and... sorry, Alabama, but there will be an added emphasis on conference championships... Stanford or Baylor. And to me that's how it should be.
On the other hand I may be completely full of shite.

I imagine this is what European people sound like when they say it's harder to win the Euros than the World Cup.

Revamp the Conferecne. Eliminate the title game, championship awarded on a single league table. Every team gets two permanent rivals, the rest of the schedule rotates.
We invented the championship game and by God we can the ones to get rid of it.
