I'm happy because it's probably the best we could have expected with Alleva.
Alleva hiring a coach is like sending your wife to Home Depot to pick up some tools...you know you're going to get something, but pretty sure you're not going to be happy with it.

LSU was not going to get a big name from a major program and I definitely did not want Crean.
I wish LSU would have gone after White (La Tech at time now at Fla) when Jones was hired.
I think Jones could have been successful had he hired better X/O coach and let them coach.
It was time for LSU to hire and up and coming young guy that could reinvigorate the fanbase and team and to breakaway from the past.
Will it work? Who knows. I'm a little skeptical looking at former VCU coaches and how they have not done well. But Wade was in demand by others like Clemson and NC State, so it's worth a chance. If it hits great! If not, it's what we've come to expect with LSU hoops.
Good thing is in the SEC it's not an uphill climb as outside of UK, anyone can vault into that #2 spot. It's just the nature of SEC hoops right now where even established coaches like Barnes, Howland and Pearl continue to struggle.

Wade has owned Kermit Davis head to head.
There is a reason Davis is still at Middle Tenn and has been there as long as he has. No one wants him at a power 5.

Yep, if I was a LSU fan this is the exact approach I would take too.

Better hire then Counzo.

Your hatred of Mizzou is showing again.

Really?
Will Wade has been to the NCAA's 3 times in 4 seasons
Counzo Martin has been to the NCAA's 2 times in 9 seasons

So that automatically makes him better in your eyes. This thread was not and is not a troll thread until you entered it. Nobody has said anything bad about the hire, nor was Martin brought up until you came along. Martin has nothing to do with the Wade hire, you just can't resist getting your jabs in on Mizzou. You are so transparent...

Sorry, but LSU hired a great coach who is energetic and will bring life to the program. Mizzou got a coach who has shown to be consistent, but underperform. I can see LSU ceiling much higher because they got a better coach.

And I hope he does, good for LSU, and good for the SEC. You still came into this thread taking your usual jabs at Mizzou. Again, this isn't a troll thread, try your best not to turn it into one.

And I want the SEC to be good as well.

But you still get your kicks at taking your shots at Mizzou, your history shows this, and you know it.

Dude, don't get into a troll fight with him. This thread is a legit, non troll thread. It was going good until he came into it. Don't feed him.

I didnt find his comment to be troll. I like our hire more than Missou also.

That's cool, I'm glad you like your hire more than Mizzou's, nothing wrong with that. You would have to know said posters history of trolling Mizzou though to understand what I'm talking about.

At least Wade took his mid major jobs to the NCAAs. Counzo only took his mid major gig to the CIT and NIT (I'll remind you, Steve Alford with the same gig to a Sweet 16).
So, I guess winning the CIT makes one a better coach?
And I am not trolling. Just stating my opinion of the 2 jobs opened, LSU got a better hire.

Anything is better than Johnny Jones. As a fan who had to endure John Pelhprey, I can speak to this.

No they didn't, but ok. Do you, Mike.
Cuonzo had at least two power 5 jobs willing to pay him 3M per year and Wade went to LSU for less than what their DC makes.
Think
