He currently has 204 career wins. That means Saban will have to average 12 wins a season for the next years to reach 300 wins.

There's been five Division 1-A coaches who have won 300+ games. Here's how many wins they won after turning 65 which is Saban's current age.

Joe Paterno- 169
Bobby Bowden- 138
Amos Alonzo Stagg- 76
Bear Bryant- 39
Pop Warner- 6

So there is a precedent for coaches winning a lot of games after turning 65. Bowden and Paterno won well over 100 games after their age 65 season. However, Bowden started to slip badly towards the end and Paterno was basically a figurehead in his final years. Would Bama allow Saban stick around if he goes nine years without a NY6 bowl win or top 10 AP finish like Florida State did with Bobby Bowden? Would Saban allow himself to be a figurehead and let his assistants do all of the coaching like Paterno at Penn State? I have my doubts that either situation would happen. I think Saban will retire with 250-275 career wins. I don't see him getting to 300.

He's in pretty good health for 65. He'll probably coach at least 7 or 8 more years.

JoPa harnessed the energy from the tears of underage boys during their locker room shower parties. That's the only reason he was successful for as long as he was.

But, seriously. frick that guy. Hope he's burning.

To answer your question, yes. Saban will be around long enough.

I can imagine 250 but 300 is pushing it. I can see Terry trying to get him to retire in 4-5 years from now. It'd be best to go out on top and not for a potential health reason as he gets older

No one lives forever, no one. But with advances in modern science and his high level income, it's not crazy to think he can live to be 245, maybe 300.

I imagine Alabama has a long list of living heart donors in case CNS was in need. With advances in artificial intelligence, medicine, robotics, etc, I guess Saban could be their coach until all the silicon is out of the valley.

But..... a HERO will rise!

It has to be getting to the point that it isn't even a challenge for him anymore. Most successful people I know enjoy being challenged and building things from scratch. Probably wishful thinking on my part but I hope he is one of those types and will move on to a new job sooner than later.

As long as he remains healthy, yeah, I could see it happening.

He will get bored and leave Bama before 7-10 more years of winning like now.

If he did the SEC would become a waste land and Bama fans expectation that a coach can do what Saban has without Emmert/REC network would cause them to fire coaches left and right for the next 100 years with no stability.

Don't think so.

It's possible but not likely.

It's always going to be a challenge because the rest of CFB hasn't given up as hard as you apparently have. This is only his second undefeated season, and he went two whole years without winning the NC. Two. Whole. Years. He's still trying to live that one down.

If he stays and an Orgeron led LSU happened to beat him, he might die from the shock of it all.

I might too, for that matter.

He is the greatest. Glad he was LSU's coach for 5 years. Even when he lost games there, you could see the drive and intensity. Now, he has achieved perfection. I imagine he will just keep going with it. We all need to respect what we are seeing. I've never seen it before - not like this.
