I think it is a possibility. All Marshall needs to work on is his throwing ability and even that is just some tweaks. Really it is just accuracy and finding the open man. Next Year AU wins it all with Nick (young cam newton) marshall

what are yalls thoughts and why or why not?

as a quarterback, you think all he needs to improve is:

1. his throwing ability
2. finding the open man
3. accuracy

well shite, i could be quarterback at auburn if i could improve enough in those three areas.

Cam Newton is a once in a generation elite athlete. Size, speed, arm, accuracy. Marshall is the perfect fit for Malzahn's system but he will never, ever be able to throw the ball like Cam or be as physically imposing as Cam.

If he ever gets half as good on 3rd and short as Cam was, you are all fricked!

Unless he is growing several inches and gaining several more pounds, he will never bring what Cam did on 3rd and short.

Long answer, no, not really.

Nick can't run between the tackles and over people like cam. His passing has gotten better but he still has a ways to go there. His biggest asset is he can run the option as good as anyone. CPJ at GT is jealous right now.

They say accuracy is hard to coach. But if he becomes even a proficient conventional passer, Auburn will average 40 in SEC games next year.

Like another poster said Cam is a once in a generation athlete. That won't take anything away from Marshall. He's very good for what Gus is wanting to do. I also think with bowl practice, spring and another summer he'll improve his passing a good bit for next season. If things fall well he might even get some Heisman talk, but you can do all those things and not be as overwhelming a talent as Cam Newton.

Not the same style of player. Yes, both are very athletic, but I think there were LBs who feared having to hit Cam. Nick just makes DBs fear trying to not get left with their jock around their ankles. As for his throwing ability, more than anything, I think it's chemistry with receivers. He had only been on campus for 14 days when the season opened. He has looked better as the season went on (minus that God-awful pick six against UT). The full off-season to build chemistry, get in the film room, and tweak mechanics will do him a lot of good.

After all of that, will he be as good as Cam? Not likely, but he could still be a very good QB who fits perfectly into Gus's system.

I think he will be good but hell no! And that's more of a prop to cam than a diss to Marshall...

Just doesn't have tht high a ceiling.

Cam was leaps and bounds better in one year in Gus's system.

Nick is jsut not that good a passer never will be.
