This feels like a response thread to my thread comparing Bert and Sumlin.

With the classes he's had and will get in 2016 & 2017, he's got a good 5-6 years left of upside & winning.

Most... I could have a beer with Cardboard Boxer and Kaiser Soze (if I drank). Those two are okay in my book.

Les Miles will always do just enough to not be fired. And LSU fans hate him for it.

If having a top 5 win % in sec history and the #1 ooc win % in sec history, finishing in the top 15 6 of his 10 years and having 7 of lsu's 11 10 win seasons is DOING JUST ENOUGH, then every coach in the sec, not named Saban,is doing horrible.

No chance Les would still have a job at LSU today if it weren't for Pitt's insane upset of West Virginia. National titles are everything, even if you back into them with two losses, including losing your last regular season game to an average Arkansas team.

Every body needs a lil luck. But I don't consider winning the sec while other teams lose backing into a championship. He also took an undefeated LSU to a bcs title game. He got beat by a better coach, and probably the only coach in the sec that should be ranked ahead of him.

Two aggy trolls threads directed at LSU within one hour late on a Saturday night. That is sad as hell.

You losers have clearly defined LSU athletics as the superior entity by which you all measure yourselves and fail to successfully compete with on a consistent basis.

Not saying I want Les gone, but LSU is a top 5 job in the country no doubt. We would have a great variety to choose from.

What?

Ah, dammit, it was a trick, and I fell for it. Now everyone here knows my real identity. Yes, it's true, I'm Kevin Summlin. No relation to Kevin Sumlin, but I do get occasional illiterates coming into my office demanding to know when I'm going to improve TAMU's defense. I keep telling them I hired John Chavvis to handle that, but they refuse to listen.

Death from "Charlie Mac Syndrome", huh?

The majority of the adult fan base composed of season ticket holders, alums and die-hards that attend all the games, are no big fans of Miles and would not be that sorry to see him go.

His only real support is from message board LSU Sunshine Pumpers, Cheerleaders and Sand Headers.

Not much support out in the real world.

Things will get ugly in Tiger Stadium this season if the dysfunctional passing game/QB performance continues and it cost us games. Everything else is in place..........

You should have to be a fan of a team who can actually beat LSU to be able to start this thread.

RC Slocum > Sumlin

Sure about that?

From 1989-2002, R.C. Slocum went 2-9 in bowl games. Sumlin is 3-0.

From 1989-1991, Slocum coached in the equivalent of the Mountain West. From 1992-1995, the SWC more closely resembled the American Athletic Conference.

Both coaches' records vs. ranked teams (at the time of the game)

vs. Top 5

Slocum: 4-11
Sumlin: 2-3

vs. Top 10

Slocum: 7-15
Sumlin: 3-5

vs. Top 25

Slocum: 18-25
Sumlin: 6-9

Conference record in 12-team conferences: (SWC doesn't count here)

Slocum: 34-22 (12-18 vs. teams with winning records)
Sumlin: 13-11 (9-11 vs. teams with winning records)

Sumlin has only coached against 4 "bad" teams in conference (2012-13 Arkansas, 2012 Auburn, 2012 Missouri)

Slocum lost to the following .500 or worse teams

1999 Texas Tech
2000 Colorado
2002 Nebraska
2002 Missouri

Slocum basically took Jackie Sherill's team and rode through a mediocre SWC during the simultaneous low points of Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
