I can see Sully staying or leaving.

If he stays, Foley better make damn sure the baseball facilities will be upgraded ASAP. No reason to have such shitty facilities at UF.

Why would you not take the Texas job? It's a no brainier at the premier baseball school in Texas. Maybe not at the moment but historically nobody can compare. You also get to play in the weak Big 12. Big difference between playing Kansas and Vandy every year.

Good opportunity IMO for Sully to lobby for facility upgrades

Yep. In a perfect world we win it all this year. Foley would have good reason to match anything and any stadium upgrade (roof) that he wanted. We just redid the facilities and they should be top notch, just need a better stadium.

I mean, if we're talking gays, Austin is by far the gayest city within 1000 miles in any direction. That has to count against it, doesn't it?

We'll spend crazy money and land a great baseball coach. Is this a shock to anyone? As sad as our football tradition has been post 1970, we have a nice baseball track record in the modern era. Also doesn't suck to live in Austin.

Nope it doesn't. As much as people like to shite on Texas on here, Austin is a great place to live.

Just curious ... but to what are you referring?

Foley is a legendary AD, but the secret to his success is how much he does for how little he spends. Many UF facilities are behind the times (not Georgia bad but close) and he has been known to prefer top tier assistants or coordinators or non Power-5 guys as head coaches instead of top tier guys already at the position and then he doesn't pay them a top tier wage until they produce big.

It's a model of how an AD should be run the last 20 years, but eventually cheap will lose out to a new trend of spending whatever you can to get ahead. There are already cracks in that wall, like when Foley lost all his leverage in the buyout of Butterteeth 2.0 because of his deer in the headlights approach to social media.

Sounds like Wally Groff.
Florida isn't stupid; surely they recognize it's a new era of sexy facilities and exorbitant salaries?
Thanks, cardboard.

We will see, they are starting to open the wallet some (like in the Butterteeth 2.0 hire and in recent facility spending) but it might take new leadership to fully change priorities. They have done well in the old model so there isn't an urgency.

Oh and

The state of LA may be broke, & LSU may not have a ton of $$$ on hand, but I assure you TAF is not broke & can pay whatever needed to keep coaches around.

If Texas hires Bianco, will Ole Miss just give up athletics?

We'll see. I just don't see it but who knows. He's been here 8 years now, recruiting as good as ever and has us at the top of college baseball. What incentive is there to leave besides a $300,000 pay bump? Which is huge, don't get me wrong. But if he keeps recruiting at this level he's bound to win the big one at some point and when he does he'll be making close to a million a year.

Your thread sucks, but I'll continue to play along.

I'm not a 'sip', I just happen to live amongst them, and you all for that matter. Horns' fans seem to be much more pleasant around here.

Congrats on being good in baseball, but Texas is a giant. They've been to the CWS around 40 times, and you guys have what, maybe 6 total wins in Omaha? You probably should be concerned about their hire.

Don't call Florida your SEC brethren. You are as SEC as West Virginia is Big 12.

And from what I gather, this thread is you trying to rally the troops so UF can keep their coach, simply because you are afraid you will revert back to mid-tier in Texas.

I'm fine, you are the one who is paranoid that one of your Big Bros steals a good coach.
