I would rather have Lane Kiffin at the helm and that is saying a lot.

Damn really?

If you think Sweeney is a bad coach, you're insane. Spurrier and USCe are his daddy right now but even they will tell you he isn't a bad coach.

Who is "they?"

Dabo sucks as a coach. He's a very good recruiter. He also has the highest paid group of assistants in the country, but still, his record against ranked opponents, especially Top 15 opponents, is atrocious.

Dead arse. Dabo and Kiffin are both excellent recruiters. I think Kiffin is the better coach though. Dabo always looks lost man. Guy is a clown.

No, it will be Kirby or CNS will hand pick his successor with the blessing of Bill Battle. imho

I wouldn't trust Saban's pick.

He recommended Houston Nutt after he decided to leave LSU.

The way I look at it is, Dabo has at least shown he can lead a program to success as a HC. Kiffin didn't reach any level of prolonged success at any of his stops as a HC. I do think Kiffin will be a good OC tho.

In the end the obvious choice between the 2 is neither.

We'll probably let the fans fax in their choice for the next coach. What could go wrong with that?

Alabama will go 25 years hiring Saban defensive disciples:

Smart
Muschamp
Dooley
Steele
..etc

..along with former Saban players turned coaches.

Just spitballing but it's gonna be interesting to watch Derek Mason at Vandy. If he keeps Vandy moving forward (I realize they'll regress a lil this year) he could become a hot commodity about the same time as Nick is looking to retire... Gonna be an interesting guy to keep your eye on for the next 4-5 years...JMO...

It's not gonna be Mason. I'd love Shaw. I think he would be an absolute stud with recruiting and his style of coaching he brings to the table. He is far and away my number 1 to replace Saban. Jimbo next, then I guess Smart. I want to see Smart succeed somewhere else before we give him the job though.

Depends on how much success Gus has going forward. If we want, we'll take him.

Yea... For all I know he'll frickin' tank in Nashville but he is an interesting hire. Both he & Shaw seemed to be hardcore west coast guys, like Petersen at BSU & Wash...

Was suprised to see Mason come east to Vandy... Looking forward to watching him coach at Vandy...

Stupid thread. Keep hoping for the days Coach Saban retires. Until then, you may win one here and there but we will own everyone's arse until.

David Shaw faps over Bama everytime he gets the chance. You better believe he's Bama's next coach if Saban retires.

His running games are boss so I wouldn't mind. Dude is very respectful too.

Jimbo wouldn't make a lateral move to Tuscaloosa. I could see Jim Mora doing well there though.

Jimbo might consider it if Bama add $3 mil to his yearly his salary. FSU doesn't have the financial resources to get into a bidding war with Bama. Now I'm not saying he would come, I'm just saying that he would consider it if we went full bore after him, and were willing to give him Saban's salary.

While Jim Mora has done well so far, I wouldn't hire him if Saban left today but could be someone to look at in the future. It'll be interesting to see how he does the next couple of years in the Pac 12.
