It's a total rebuilding job with a team that has no idea how to win.

Of all the traditional SEC powers, they have by far the smallest natural recruiting base and must compete with programs that have accomplished far more recently for recruits.

I'm an LSU fan who doesn't even care about UT really, but when I see them mention themselves in the same breath with USC or Texas I just giggle. They're all like "Chip Kelly will get to choose between Texas, USC, or UT." One of those things is not the like the others at all.

A good coach has Tennessee at 5-0.

How long has it been since UT was any good? How much longer must Tennessee be considered one of the Big 4?

Give Peyton the keys to the kingdom once he retires and goes into coaching. That way he can add losses to his 0-4 against UF.

You're obviously reading a UT board if this is the stuff you're seeing, because I'm not seeing it here. Maybe you do care for UT?

Wish we'd add Jones and Hart to the Body Farm

Irrelevant to the discussion, but I've been in Texas for too long.

This was the first time I can recall hearing someone say UT and think of Texas before I think of the Volunteers.

(Granted, the question still stands regardless of which UT)

Its not, look what they have had. Kiffin was the best coach they have had since the Fat Pussy Crybaby and Kiffin blew them off for USC. USC was doomed for whoever took the job due to the scholarship restrictions but it was his dream job.

UT may never make it back to a top tier program.

It hasn't been the last three times, why would it magically change now?

It's not like Butch was their first choice. I remember Clay Travis melting on twitter

Butch Jones had a total rebuilding job. Whoever follows him has a ton of talent to win with day 1.

Not really. They don't have tons of in state talent but look where they are located in Tennessee. Atlanta, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia recruits are all within a 2-4 hour drive. UT is one of the best options of a North Carolina or Virginia recruit that wants to play in the SEC but be close to home. Plus they have a massive fan base and 100k stadium. With that you can recruit talent nation wide. Even Butch is recruiting well. Talent is not the problem like it was 3 years ago.
