Why would he trade the offensive coordinator position at Auburn for the same job at Texas? Prestige? Hell no. Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers are just a month or so away from winning the national championship. He's proven that his style of offense can work in the toughest conference in all of college football. Why would he leave for Texas just to do the same thing in the same position? He doesn't need anymore prestige than he already has. He just won the Broyles Award. If Malzahn leaves Auburn it will be for a head coaching job.

yeah, this. why go somewhere else to start all over instilling your system in new players? especially after winning a NC. doesn't make sense.

a) Because he knows that the shite may the hit fan?

b) New QB lost senior OL?

c) Can't run a high school offense in the SEC without a $cam?

d) Offensive production drops off without $cam and his luster wears off thus get while the getting's good?

Agree.

On top of advancing in his coaching career, more money with the job.

He wouldn't go to Texas. He will wait at Auburn until someone offers him a HC job he wants. He might no be relishing next year with no Newton and a new offensive line, but I don't see any way he leaves for another coordinator job.

Texas > Auburn. It's why Chiz left. Muschamp left and why Malzahn will if offered. People won't quit offering him, just because he went to a more prestigious school at the same position. Texas can offer more money and he'd be more likely to move on to a HC job from there, than from Au. Being at Texas has more advantages, especially immediate. They'll be loaded to the gill with talent next season, whereas Auburn won't be. He'll keep his stock status up being able to coach that talent vs rebuilding a new Oline and QB at Auburn.

Texas>Everybody

If they had better coaching they would be unstoppable year in and year out.

I'm willing to bet you $100 Texas gets closer year in and year out to another MNC than the barn in the next 10 years with the exception of this year.

Texas is going to have to offer near 1.5 million for what would be one year of having Malzahn.

They won't do it, and I doubt Malzahn wants to go to another school as a OC when he'll have HC offers knocking after this year.

I think HC is his next stop, but he is not really getting any big offers at AU right now and AU's team is getting decimated with Tubby's last good class graduating. His stock will go down next year if he stays at AU.

This will be Auburns second trip to the BCS while Texas(even though not going this season) has already been there 4 times. Texas almost always seems to be at(or very near) the top of the Big12. Auburn's always tough, but they don't get near the national love that Texas does.

UT Offensive Coordinator > AU Offense Coordinator(especially if you want better recognition for a future HC job).
All IMHO, of course.
