If it were my son and he wanted to go there I wouldn't have a problem with it

Go to Bama for 2 years or so, get a good education, learn from the best coach in America, experience what it's like to play for a NC, and if it doesn't work out then you have two years to transfer and possibly not sit out

Don't see the issue

I don't get the full blown jealousy of LSU fans of Bama. It's not like you could ever be Bama, so what's the point?

This.

Talented QBs not starting until their RS soph or RS Jr year used to be the norm.

It's not a typical skill position. Learning the full system and developing better/slower over 2-3 yrs (unless injury forces you to step in sooner) was the standard model. The NFL values talent but it also values game reps and maturity from QBs. With QBs starting earlier and earlier in the pros, spending more time developing in college will hardly cost them millions. If anything, there is a stronger argument that it makes them money.

It's just getting harder to find kids with elite talent and the patience to wait their turn and take full advantage of the developmental aspects available to them by not transferring out their true soph yr because they aren't the man yet.

Well if he wants to be developed as a QB, he needs to go to Mississippi State and let Dan Mullen & Co. work with him. They have a proven track record and the program has come a long way since 2008.

Recruiting and the choices each player makes is a very complex situation. Part fact based, part desire, and part emotion. To really know the answer to your question you'd need to dig deeper.

On another note, I thought this was a very intriguing topic. This board is full of toxic mouth breathers who aren't here to talk football. Just pump up their Walmart memorabilia to the rest of us.

He's going to win the starting position. That's why.

Did Boz downvote me?

Everytime you say this I think of Booger McFarland (SEC Network) and for a second wonder what you are talking about =)

Truth. Deal with it. Before the free passes Bama was winning 8 games a year and no one was lining up to come there.

You could be any number of players or coaches under Saban.

You mean when the 3 Mikes were running things? I'm sure coaching ineptitude had nothing to do with it. It was just that Bama didn't pay players.

Because he likes the school, coaches, and program and knows that nothing in life is a sure thing?

He could get redshirted and Hurts could go pro after his third year. That would give him three years potentially to start.

Hurts could (God forbid) get Hurt. Injuries do happen in football.

Hurts could fail to improve and he could win the job over him.

There are too many factors to start making definitive plans three years out. Life just doesn't work that way.

Georgia has one too, and has Jake Fromm committed. Easy answer? Committed player comes in and red shirts, then sits one year, learning while the other guy is a Junior, then plays as a RSSophomore when original freshman goes to the NFL early.
