Yeah, Johnny Majors is more revered than Jim Brown alright.

Oh, so professional accolades that hadn't even occurred yet matter in Heisman voting? Well then, Steve, Danny and Tim should relinquish their trophies.

In 1956, in college football, you bet your arse Johnny Majors was more revered than Jim Brown.

Woodson over Manning....you need to let that one go.

They both deserved it, but truth be told, Moss would have won it if he hadn't played at Marshall.

Jesus, that was an amazing Heisman class. 3 Hall of Famers.

Johnny Majors should have won it...simply because of his role in preventing Georgia Tech from having a shot to win the NC that year. In '56, GT went 10-1...their sole loss being a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Tennessee's Johnny Majors. At the time of the game, GT was ranked #2 and UT was #3. The winner got an invite to the Sugar Bowl.

Wish I had known that before I started this thread. LOL

We actually have a good rivalry (albeit sporadic) with ND. BUT we don't hate them over the Heisman as much because Johnny wasn't the first or last to get screwed out of one. Majors was a triple threat too - running, throwing and kicking.

That said, he deserved it.

We probably hate them slightly less than others because Knute Rockne (who was considered GOAT of his time) told the press that everyone thought he was the best CFB coach but that Neyland was actually the best CFB coach.

Number two on the biggest robbery would have to be the 1997 award. Just like Notre Dame getting their participation trophy in 1956, it was decided a defensive player needed to win the award, so Peyton Manning and Tennessee came in second once again.

Tennessee isn't allowed to win the award. It's like a law.

Hank Lauricella was another one who should've won it.

Tennessee has had 4 Heisman candidates finish 2nd in voting. And if you're referencing Wuerffel it helps that only Heisman winners get to vote (alongside a handful of media) but he was no Peyton. Woodson also had support of Heisman voters AND the media campaigning for a defensive player/against PM.

I like Wuerffel as a human being and admired the fact that he got the shite beat out of him every play and got right back up but he was not worthy of the award.

Tebow got robbed in 2008. Most first place votes, but the midwest states purposefully left him off the ballet to make sure he lost to their boy. Was a freaking scam. He was the most valuable player hands down that year.

And Grossman in 2001. "Well he's an underclassman so blah blah blah."

Compared to PM, he wasn't. He was a stats king in the Fun n' Gun. And ya know what? DW would admit this.

None of that means he wasn't a great college QB but he was no PM and not the best QB evah.
